Job Summary:

Trading Development within the Operations Division at HKEX is responsible for initiating, leading, and delivering key strategic initiatives to support the continued development of HKEX’s markets and infrastructure.
This senior role offers a unique opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional with a strong interest in capital markets to contribute to the evolution of Hong Kong’s financial markets and its connectivity with the Mainland and global markets. Experience in market structure, capital markets, and project delivery is preferred.

Job Duties:

Job Responsibilities

  • Market Development: Lead and oversee strategic initiatives relating to Hong Kong securities and derivatives market structure, as well as Stock Connect programmes, in alignment with HKEX’s strategic objectives and regulatory requirements
  • Stakeholder Management: Work closely with internal teams (Operations, IT, Markets) and external stakeholders including market participants, regulators, mainland counterparts, and industry bodies to ensure effective communication and collaboration
  • Team Leadership: Manage and develop a small team, providing direction, coaching, and support to ensure effective delivery and professional growth
  • Project Delivery: Drive end-to-end project management, including planning, execution, governance, and coordination across functions, ensuring timely and disciplined delivery
  • Market & Regulatory Awareness: Monitor market developments, regulatory changes, and industry trends to support informed decision-making and initiative design.

Requirements

  • Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think from first principles and develop practical solutions
  • Good communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management and team leadership
  • Solid understanding of Hong Kong securities, derivatives markets, and/or Stock Connect, including market structure and recent developments
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in capital markets or financial market infrastructure and/or functional experience in trading, business management, and project management
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin)
