The Role

About this role

The Vice President, Solutions Engineering Lead is a senior technical and client‑facing leadership role within the Aladdin Wealth Solutions Engineering team. The role requires a rare combination of deep technical credibility, strong client presence, and the ability to own complex opportunities end‑to‑end.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and lead complex Tier‑1 sales opportunities end‑to‑end, from early discovery and structuring, RFP processes and in-depth due diligence, through to handover to implementation.
  • Lead solution narratives that clearly articulate architecture, operating model design, trade‑offs, and implementation implications to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Drive deal momentum by proactively managing risks, dependencies, and cross‑functional alignment across Sales, Product, Engineering, and Implementation teams.
  • Design, validate, and challenge complex solutions across Aladdin Wealth, including integration architectures, platform configuration, and multi‑entity operating models.
  • Maintain sufficient technical depth to read and reason through code in order to validate feasibility, assess complexity, and engage credibly with engineering teams.
  • Take hands‑on ownership of specific areas of platform configuration or solution setup when necessary to service client opportunities or resolve critical issues.
  • Act as a bridge between conceptual solution design and practical execution, ensuring proposals are grounded in how the platform works.
  • Coach and mentor junior and mid‑level engineers, accelerating their ability to lead client conversations and take on greater responsibility.
  • Contribute to the development of scalable best practices for solution design, client engagement, and deal execution to improve consistency across the function.
  • Contribute to shaping the broader Solutions Engineering strategy, engagement model, and talent development roadmap.

Required Profile and Experience

  • Strong technical foundation, with an early career background in engineering or architecture solutions.
  • Previous experience as a Sales or Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, Technical Product Manager, or in a similar engineering‑adjacent role, operating close to complex enterprise platforms and with client facing experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and understand code, reason through system behaviour, and engage in detailed technical discussions, even if not acting as a full‑time developer.
  • Proven track record of owning complex, end‑to‑end client engagements involving platform integration, operating model design, and senior stakeholders.
  • Fluency in German is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and confidently to executive audiences.
  • Pragmatic and adaptable mindset, able to move seamlessly between hands‑on technical detail and senior‑level strategic conversations.

What We Do

As the world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock partners with investors around the globe to help them (and those on whose behalf they invest) plan for life’s most important goals – like retirement, home ownership and their children’s education. Our clients range from governments, foundations and other large institutions to those investing on behalf of individuals, including firefighters, nurses, teachers and factory workers. BlackRock was founded with the idea of creating a better asset management firm — one that was purpose-driven, focused on clients and risk management, and propelled by data and technology. Our breakthrough Aladdin® platform is BlackRock’s technological backbone, helping investors see and manage their whole portfolios in one place – from constructing investments to monitoring risk and executing trades. Used by hundreds of external institutions around the world, Aladdin combines powerful analytics and a common language to help investment teams make faster, more informed decisions across public and private markets. It’s a key part of our business and one of the reasons we’re trusted to manage more assets than any other investment manager today. At BlackRock, we challenge conventions and raise the bar for what’s possible. We harness technology to unlock new solutions, simplify complexity, and deliver investment strategies that meet people where they are. Whether it’s retirement planning, wealth building or navigating market shifts, we’re here to help clients invest more easily, more affordably and with more choice as we chart a path toward financial well-being together.
