Based in Mountain View, CA., NeuroPace is a commercial-stage medical device company focused on transforming the lives of people suffering from epilepsy by reducing or eliminating the occurrence of debilitating seizures. Its novel and differential RNS System is the first and only commercially available, brain-responsive platform that delivers personalized, real-time treatment at the seizure source.

At NeuroPace, employees are our greatest asset. We are continually searching for solution-oriented individuals who can bring energy and creativity to our growing workforce. At NeuroPace, our success depends upon our ability to recruit and retain the most talented, enthusiastic and dedicated people we can find and providing them with a dynamic and challenging environment in which to thrive.

We are currently seeking a Vice President of Marketing to join our team. This individual will be a marketing leader with the intelligence, integrity, conviction, and desire to pioneer the world’s first and only closed loop system for the treatment and management of medically refractory epilepsy. The VP of Marketing will be a decisive commercial leader who makes decisions and develops strategies based on facts. S/he will be an analytical, data driven executive with a history of successfully bringing at least one new disruptive class III medical technology to market. S/he will be a decisive business leader and team player that will thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced business culture focused on rapid growth. S/he will have successfully commercialized an active implantable or truly disruptive technology concept from scratch through two hundred million in annual revenue. S/he will be expert in developing well-constructed clinical, technical, and economic value propositions for physicians, hospitals, payors, and patients anchored in scientific fact.

The selected candidate will be a classically trained marketer with a proven record of developing strategic marketing plans and building teams to execute tactically.  Experience developing and implementing marketing plans, including responsibility for market research, product marketing, new and strategic product planning, training, and education is necessary.

The VP of marketing will have the ability to think clearly and critically, articulate a vision, and inspire others to follow. S/he will be a risk taker who is willing and able to make dispassionate and objective decisions.

This exclusive opportunity empowers you to build and shape the marketing department and make strategic decisions critical to our company's growth.  As VP of Marketing, you will report directly to the CEO and will play a pivotal role in shaping our brand, developing marketing strategies, and conducting comprehensive market research

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy that aligns with the company's vision, mission, and business goals while adapting strategies to changing market dynamics.
  • Develop positioning, branding, and value propositions via scientifically valid evidence.  It is critical to distinguish closed loop RNS technology and its ability to treat and optimize disease management from other therapies.
  • Build and lead a best-in-class team capable of a disciplined, credible, and successful scale up of business.
  • Establish a compelling and distinctive brand identity for the company and its products, ensuring consistency across all marketing channels and communications.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to set marketing objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive overall success.
  • Oversee the development and execution of marketing management activities; product launches, segment budgets, and annual strategic marketing plans and contribute as needed to the day-to-day performance – focusing on market development & brand awareness.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for marketing activities and campaigns, regularly monitoring and analyzing marketing metrics to assess the effectiveness of strategies and make data-driven improvements.
  • Ensure all marketing efforts comply with relevant industry regulations, such as FDA guidelines and other applicable standards
  • Oversee digital marketing initiatives, including content marketing, social media, email marketing, SEO/SEM, and online advertising, to drive engagement and traffic to our product offerings.
  • Develop and implement sales force compensation that rewards high quality, ethical performance while achieving or exceeding sales targets defined in the sales plan.
  • Determine and implement the key metrics/dashboard required to manage performance and results.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Sales, CEO, and other executives to determine and develop the clinical and economic data requirements to support all stages of market development over the next five years.

The selected candidate will:

  • Fit in to a highly mission driven, patient centric company culture that prides itself on scientific rigor, market transparency, and customer trust.
  • Thrive in a start-up commercial environment where there will not be the resources of a large corporation and take pride in being measured by achieved results rather than by plans or activities.
  • Approach work with a great sense of urgency and be able to inspire others to do the same.
  • Be a creative problem solver with the self-confidence to surround himself/herself with equally or more competent leaders.
  • Possess an unquestionable moral and ethical backbone.
  • Have demonstrated the ability to earn the trust and respect of his/her functional peers and work to achieve cross-functional harmony.
