Position Summary:

ultraimpact – Make a difference for those who need it most

As the EMEA Vice President, General Manager, Partner Markets you are responsible for the management of the EMEA Partner Markets cluster (MENA/GCC, Israel, CEE) in which Ultragenyx is commercializing its products via Distributor partners. In this role you are responsible for overseeing alliance management of Distributor Partners, cluster P&L and leading internal cross-functional teams, ensuring performance and governance across the cluster. The role is a senior leadership role within the EMEA Leadership Team, critical in optimizing regional performance and expansion as the organization grows its footprint and prepares to launch several new rare disease assets in the coming 5 years.

Work Model: 

Flex: This role will typically require onsite work 2-3 days each week, or more depending on business needs. In many locations, the business will set certain days each week that Flex employees are required to be onsite.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Define and lead the development of the Distributor Partner cluster strategic plans, including market entry, partner selection, registration timelines, launch strategies, and pricing governance.
  • Lead negotiations and alliance management with third-party distributor partners to ensure successful commercialization of products in the region.
  • Build transparent and collaborative collaboration with the distributor partners to optimize operation and performance
  • Ensure robust governance and collaboration processes are in place to monitor distributor performance and ensure alignment with the distribution agreement.
  • Lead a high performing direct and matrix team across Commercial, Finance, Market Access & Pricing, Patient advocacy and Medical to optimize performance across the cluster.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Tech-Ops & Supply Chain, Medical, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, and Finance teams to ensure operational efficiency, governance, and business continuity across the region.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments to adapt strategies and maintain competitive advantage across the cluster.
  • Own and manage the P&L for the Partner Markets cluster, ensuring strong commercial performance through forecasting, budgeting, disciplined financial oversight, efficient resource allocation, and timely decision-making.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field. Advanced degree such as MBA or MSc preferred.
  • 15+ years in the pharmaceutical/biotech space, with significant commercial experience in alliance management of Distribution Partners within the rare disease space.
  • Demonstrated expertise in product commercialization and operations with deep understanding of the cross functional roles including Tech-Ops, Finance, Legal and Compliance.
  • Exceptional strategic planning and operational execution capabilities with experience managing P&Ls
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to inspire and mobilize diverse cross functional teams in a matrix structure.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and market insights.
  • Fluency in English. Additional European languages are a plus.

Additional Information

  • Travel: 30-50% as Business requires
