Join a team where your application leadership directly supports how the firm closes, forecasts, and plans. You will own critical consolidation platforms and the day-to-day processes that keep Finance moving. This role is built for someone who enjoys operational excellence, clear stakeholder communication, and hands-on systems management. You will help strengthen stability, data integrity, and readiness during high-impact close cycles.
As a Vice President, Financial Consolidation Reporting Applications Lead at JPMorganChase within Consumer & Community Banking Finance, you will be accountable for the systems and applications that underpin the financial consolidation process. You will ensure operational stability, data integrity, and platform readiness across close, forecast, and planning cycles. This is a systems and applications ownership role, not a financial planning and analysis position, and it is designed for someone who thrives in production environments and values reliable data delivery.
You will spend approximately 25% of your time partnering with stakeholders and technology peers to align priorities and execute during close windows, and 75% of your time on hands-on application management and run-the-business execution. Essbase is the primary platform and core skill set for this role, and experience with other online analytical processing technologies will be considered.
Job responsibilities
- Own and manage the systems and applications that support the financial consolidation process, ensuring platform availability, data integrity, and timely execution across close, forecast, and planning cycles
- Act as the primary systems liaison between Finance teams, application support, technology teams, and business analysts to align priorities, timelines, and delivery outcomes
- Oversee day-to-day application operations across multiple systems, cubes, and internal data validation platforms, including data loads, hierarchy management, and reporting readiness
- Monitor workflows and processing health, proactively identifying risks and driving actions to maintain consistent, reliable data delivery
- Lead production incident triage and escalation for consolidation processing failures, coordinating cross-functional resolution and driving root-cause remediation during critical close periods
- Produce and maintain process documentation, operational runbooks, and stakeholder communications, and report on consolidation health, risks, and improvement metrics
- Use Jira for work management and delivery tracking, including writing epics and user stories with clear acceptance criteria for technology teams
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, with 5+ years of experience supporting Essbase, EPM, ERP, downstream financial consolidation applications in a regulated production environment.
- Own and support enterprise financial consolidation and reporting systems, including production monitoring, access management, incident resolution, change readiness, and ongoing operational stability.
- Apply working knowledge of multidimensional data models, financial hierarchies, reference data management, month-end close processes, and security entitlements in highly controlled data environments.
- Perform data validation, reconciliation, and control checks to help ensure the accuracy, completeness, auditability, and reliability of consolidated financial results and reporting outputs.
- Lead incident management activities, including issue triage, escalation, stakeholder communications, root-cause analysis, remediation tracking, and resolution under time-sensitive close or reporting deadlines.
- Partner effectively with Finance, Technology, Operations, and senior stakeholders to align priorities, manage run-the-bank activities, communicate risks, and provide clear recommendations to support informed decision-making.
- Lead, mentor a small team, and coordinate cross-functional teams of analysts, developers, and data/BI resources while managing delivery priorities, documentation standards, stakeholder expectations, and continuous improvement opportunities.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with OLAP technologies (e.g., Cognos, Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services).
- Familiarity with BI/analytics platforms (e.g., Tableau, ThoughtSpot, Atoti) and how they consume consolidated finance data.
- Experience supporting Finance teams in a large financial institution, including management reporting expectations and close-cycle execution rhythms.
- Understanding of modern finance data pipelines, including data lake/lakehouse concepts (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake) and automation/integration tooling (scheduling, scripting, ETL/ELT) to reduce manual intervention.
