This role sits within Preqin, a part of BlackRock. Preqin plays a key role in how we are revolutionizing private markets data and technology for clients globally, complementing our existing Aladdin technology platform to deliver investment solutions for the whole portfolio.
About Team:
We're building greenfield MDM (Master Data Management) system. Master data management detects and resolves data inconsistencies on the enterprise-level by distributing mastered versions of data across applications and systems. By mastering private markets data and creating the golden source for funds, organizations, individuals, and assets, we can harness the power of the data we generate to create new commercial opportunities and scale our platform. The master data management strategy consists of two pillars.
The Preqin Numbering System, responsible for assigning a market identifier intended for public distribution to entities on behalf of market participants; and the Global MDM, the registration, numbering, mapping and mastering of key data for the universe of entities (public and private) required for fund and investment management across the Aladdin ecosystem.
As a Vice President, you will lead engineering delivery across EDP Integrations, ETL, Data Quality engineering, and periodic data migrations. You will ensure engineering implementation excellence and alignment with defined patterns.
Your focus will be on delivering high-quality solutions for our stakeholders by leveraging strong data literacy, product awareness and clear communication. You will collaborate closely with product managers and data owner to ideate, design, and deliver new features, while actively shaping the direction of our technical strategy and data platform.
Key responsibilities will include:
Data Integration & ETL
Lead EDP integration flows and develop robust ETL pipelines.
Ensure scalable, reusable ingestion and transformation patterns.
Data Quality Engineering
Implement data validation, profiling, anomaly detection, and monitoring frameworks.
Embed automated DQ controls into operational workflows.
Periodic Data Migrations (Preqin, eFront, Aladdin)
Execute repeatable migration processes including mapping, delta loads, QA, reconciliations.
Ensure smooth execution cycles with high reliability.
Engineering Excellence
Drive engineering best practices (CI/CD, testing, observability, code quality).
Recommend technical improvements while adhering to Architect-defined standards.
Convert architectural blueprints into engineering tasks.
People Leadership
Manage and mentor engineering teams, fostering growth and excellence.
Lead performance reviews, coaching, and capability uplift.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner with Product, Ops, Governance, and Architecture teams.
Translate business requirements into actionable engineering roadmaps.
What we are looking for:
10+ years’ experience in software engineering.
Strong technical ability across the full stack: Python, FastAPI. ETL Frameworks. Apache airflow, DBT etc. Knowledge of React and Typescript is a plus.
Experience with databases like Advanced open-source relational databases.res and Snowflake.
Experience of working within cloud provider services – Azure or AWS (preferred).
A data-driven mindset to make development decisions based on robust analyses.
Ability to collaborate effectively with designers, engineering and data scientist teams to build our technical solutions.
You have driven technical solution design, taking the balance of engineering quality, testing, scalability and security into consideration.
A “let’s do it” and “challenge accepted” attitude when faced with less known or challenging tasks, with a willingness to learn new technologies and ways of working.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels and bridge technical perspectives.
Proficiency in English required; additional languages and prior work experience at a global firm are desirable.People management experience.
