Position OverviewIn this pivotal role, you will define and drive the long-term product strategy, innovation pipeline, and go-to-market alignment for IM’s PK–12 curriculum offerings. The VP will oversee product development from ideation to implementation—ensuring instructional excellence, equity, and innovation remain at the heart of every IM product. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), this executive will shape organizational growth, ensure product-market fit, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and elevate IM’s position as a national leader in math education.
Key ResponsibilitiesOrganizational Strategy and Executive Leadership- Co-create and execute a multi-year vision for product development that reflects IM’s mission, values, and strategic educational goals.
- Lead the development of product life cycles, including new innovations, segment expansion, and legacy content strategies.
- Translate emerging research, policy trends, and user needs into prioritized product decisions and strategic roadmaps.
- Champion inclusive leadership, workplace equity, and psychologically safe environments in collaboration with SLT peers.
- Set the strategic direction for IM’s curriculum development, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities, market demands, and state adoption requirements.
- Guide innovation efforts to strengthen instructional rigor, educator engagement, and equitable learning outcomes.
- Build processes that ensure cross-departmental efficiency, especially with Engineering, Implementation, PL, and Research teams.
- Leverage partnerships, licensing, and product ecosystem strategies to expand reach and impact.
- Recruit, lead, and develop a high-performing, diverse team of content creators, editors, specialists, and strategists.
- Foster a collaborative culture grounded in equity, excellence, and continuous learning.
- Coach team members using IM’s professional learning tools, 1:1 development sessions, and feedback loops.
- Set and evaluate performance goals that align with team capacity, strategic priorities, and organizational health.
- Direct and optimize departmental workflows, resource planning, and policies to align content development with go-to-market strategies and impact goals.
- Drive process improvement through innovation, agility, and cross-functional alignment.
- Model adaptive leadership by managing complexity, solving cross-team challenges, and ensuring consistent communication flow across the organization.
- Oversee strategic budgeting and resource allocation for the Content Development department, ensuring mission-alignment and financial sustainability.
- Track and report on department performance, product investments, and cost-effectiveness.
- Evaluate and adopt technology solutions that enhance productivity, collaboration, and quality.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or equivalent work experience).
- A minimum10 years of experience in curriculum development, educational publishing, EdTech, or PK–12 education sectors.
- At least 8 years in a senior leadership role with strategic oversight and decision-making responsibilities.
- Proven success in leading complex, cross-functional product teams and strategy implementation.
- Expertise in math education research, standards alignment, and instructional equity.
- Familiarity with Agile development, technical collaboration, and learning science.
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to feedback, reflection, and equity-focused leadership.
- Proven ability to drive change, navigate ambiguity, and inspire teams.
- Must reside in and be a citizen of the US.
- Experience scaling products in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
- Prior work with curriculum adoptions (district-level or state).
- Background in instructional design or product innovation in PK–12 math.
- Experience in nonprofit, education, or public interest sectors.
- Experience leading communications in a remote-first organization.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Slack, Asana, Notion, and Zoom.
- Familiarity with trends and best practices in equity-centered and inclusive communications.
