Position Description
Access Holdings is seeking a Vice President of Business Development to help build, operate, and scale the firm’s origination engine. This role sits at the intersection of relationship development, deal screening, and origination operations.
The VP will be responsible for running structured, campaign-based sourcing efforts across sponsor and banker relationships while also serving as the process owner for thesis-initiated origination campaigns. This individual ensures that origination efforts are executed with discipline, tracked rigorously, and continuously improved.
Strong comfort with digital sourcing platforms, Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, DealCloud, LinkedIn Premium, and AI-enabled tools will be critical to scaling origination efforts and ensuring that the full investment team leverages these tools effectively. This is not a “lone wolf” sourcing role. Success comes from creating leverage across the investment team, enforcing process discipline, and ensuring Access’s origination system compounds over time.
Responsibilities
Sponsor Coverage & Relationship Development
- Design and execute targeted outreach campaigns to investment banks and advisors to build awareness of Access and generate consistent deal flow.
- Run account-based marketing-style campaigns (e.g., banker trips, curated outreach, content sequencing) to systematically deepen relationships with priority firms and individuals.
- Serve as the central owner of banker relationship data, ensuring all contacts, interactions, NDAs, and materials are properly captured in internal systems (CRM, Snowflake, etc.).
- Manage the full lifecycle of inbound banker materials (e.g., teasers, CIMs), ensuring opportunities are logged, tracked, and routed appropriately.
- Maintain an organized, scalable database of banker relationships so that institutional knowledge compounds over time rather than living in inboxes.
Campaign Execution & Origination Operations
- Manage deal team and value creation partners at Access through research-driven, multichannel B2B origination campaigns aligned with Access’s investment theses.
- Drive campaign performance across key objectives including content engagement scores, leads, first conversations, and NDAs executed using A/B testing and related methodologies.
- Identify new content and channel opportunities by analyzing target behavior, market trends and first conversation data.
- Collaborate with Access’ data science team to develop machine learning models that deliver personalized content.
- Actively contribute to and improve Access’s outbound “gauntlet” and related outreach processes.
- Partner with investment professionals to convert insights outreach leads into targeted, disciplined outreach.
- Serve as an early gatekeeper in the origination funnel by applying a well-documented buy box to quickly qualify or disqualify opportunities.
Origination Enablement & Tool Fluency
- Demonstrate expert-level fluency in Access’s origination and CRM tools, using them to design, execute, and track sourcing campaigns with precision.
- Ensure origination tools are used consistently and correctly by deal teams, driving data integrity and campaign effectiveness.
- Translate origination needs into clear requirements and feedback for internal technology, data, or operations partners.
- Act as a power user who can identify failure points in workflows, reporting, or adoption, and proactively push for improvements.
Process Discipline & Accountability
- Drive accountability across every stage of the Access origination process, ensuring clear ownership and follow-through at scale.
- Hold contributors accountable for inputs, outputs, and timelines without relying on formal authority.
- Continuously refine origination workflows to improve speed, quality, and conversion rates.
Skills & Characteristics
- Demonstrated high EQ and an ability to build trust quickly across bankers, executives, and internal teams.
- Ability to exercise strong judgment and discernment in qualifying deals and saying “no” early and often.
- Proven experience directing account-based marketing strategies and B2B lead gen and origination campaigns with measurable results.
- High comfort level owning and operating complex technology stacks and CRM systems.
- Natural operator mindset — process-oriented, detail-driven, and relentlessly accountable.
- Ability to influence laterally and upward in a performance-driven environment.
- Calm under pressure; decisive without being reckless.
- Committed to building enduring businesses and contributing to Access’s long-term success.
- Embraces our core values:
- Owns the Challenge by stepping up, taking responsibility, and leading with accountability.
- Stays Curious and Hungry, continuously learning and seeking better ways to build.
- Demonstrates Empathy with Actions, investing in people as much as businesses.
- Lives Excellence as a Habit, approaching every detail with consistency and high standards.
- Acts as a Business Builder, rolling up sleeves to create enduring companies that thrive for generations.
Requirements
- 5–10 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, business development, corporate development, B2B sales or a related field with direct exposure to deal origination.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree strongly preferred.
- Experience covering sell-side advisors or sponsor-backed transactions strongly preferred.
- Military training or background viewed as a plus, particularly where it demonstrates discipline, leadership under pressure, and ownership mentality.
- Willingness to travel extensively for relationship building, conferences, and portfolio/company engagement.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
