    Compensation Range

    The anticipated hiring range for this position is $36.50 - $44.50 per hour.

    This range represents the compensation Caltrol reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, technical expertise, certifications, demonstrated skills, geographic location, and internal equity considerations.

    3-5 years of relevant experience

    $39.00 - $42.00

    5+ years of relevant experience with advanced troubleshooting, condition monitoring, and customer-facing expertise

    $42.00 - $44.50


    Additional Compensation Considerations

    Professional certifications, such as Vibration Institute Category I, II, III, ISO certifications, ultrasound, infrared thermography, or other predictive maintenance credentials, may be considered when determining an individual's placement within the range. However, certifications are evaluated alongside overall experience, technical proficiency, industry knowledge, and demonstrated performance, rather than serving as a sole compensation benchmark.

    Work Environment/Schedule:

    This position offers autonomy and flexibility in a home and field-based work environment.

    When not supporting customers on-site, you will work from a home office using company-provided technology and tools. Customer sites may include industrial manufacturing, biopharmaceutical, power generation, water and wastewater, and other process environments. Work may occur indoors or outdoors at varying temperatures and noise levels. Required PPE is provided by Caltrol.

    Travel:

    Approximately 70% of this role involves travel throughout Northern California and the broader Caltrol territory, including California, Nevada, Arizona, Bakersfield, and the California Central Valley. Travel will include occasional overnight stays based on customer and business needs. This field-based travel allows you to support a variety of customer sites while applying and expanding your technical expertise.

    What You'll Be Doing:

    • Serve as a trusted reliability partner, helping customers improve equipment performance, reduce downtime, and increase asset reliability across a wide range of industrial environments.
    • Perform vibration analysis, laser alignment, on-site balancing, and advanced machinery diagnostics to identify and resolve rotating equipment issues.
    • Manage and support Predictive Maintenance (PdM) programs through data collection, analysis, reporting, and the use of industry-leading reliability tools and software.
    • Analyze condition monitoring and route-based data, independently develop technical findings and recommendations, and prepare comprehensive customer reports.
    • Develop, maintain, and optimize vibration monitoring databases, including route creation, measurement-point setup, alarm strategies, and fault-frequency configurations.
    • Partner directly with customers through on-site visits, troubleshooting activities, acceptance testing, and technical consultations to solve critical machinery and process challenges.
    • Collaborate with manufacturers, engineers, maintenance teams, and internal reliability specialists to drive continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.
    • Identify opportunities to strengthen customer reliability programs and expand the value of predictive maintenance and condition monitoring services.
    • Mentor and support the development of junior Machinery Analysts while contributing to the growth and technical excellence of Caltrol's Reliability Services team.
    • Continuously expand your expertise through hands-on field experience, advanced training, professional development opportunities, and industry-recognized certifications.

    What We're Looking For:

    • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education, military training, and relevant industry experience.
    • 4+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, machinery diagnostics, reliability, predictive maintenance, or rotating equipment environments.
    • 4+ years of hands-on experience performing vibration analysis, laser alignment, and machinery balancing.
    • Experience conducting advanced machinery diagnostics and troubleshooting, including phase analysis, resonance testing, root cause identification, and development of corrective actions.
    • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment commonly found in industrial facilities, including motors, pumps, fans, blowers, compressors, gearboxes, and associated driven equipment.
    • Experience using vibration analyzers, condition monitoring systems, and vibration analysis software (Emerson AMS experience is a plus), along with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Ability to work independently from a home office and maintain reliable high-speed internet service.
    • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical findings and recommendations to a variety of audiences.
    • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record as determined by company insurance requirements and motor vehicle record (MVR) standards.
    • Willingness and ability to travel throughout California, Nevada, and Arizona, including occasional overnight travel.

    Physical Demands: 

    This role combines computer-based analysis with hands-on field work. The successful candidate must be able to:

    • Travel regularly to customer facilities throughout the Caltrol territory
    • Drive for extended periods and travel overnight as business needs require
    • Walk industrial facilities and access equipment in operating environments
    • Climb ladders, stairs, platforms, and towers when required
    • Work in confined or elevated spaces when necessary
    • Bend, kneel, crouch, and reach during inspections and diagnostic activities
    • Lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds
    • Operate computers, vibration data collectors, laser alignment equipment, and standard office technology
