The Role

Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a Radio Technical Support workforce that is able to accomplish its assigned duties and respond to no-notice situations in order to sustain the customer's mission and its processes. Will minimize the customer's equipment downtime, taking into consideration the circumstances/characteristics of the equipment defect or damage. Will be customer service oriented and respond to the needs of the customer and other contractors.
Contractor, Engineering and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) staff will work alongside division staff to modernize the RF over Fiber DAS in place today to a supported and future ready platform.
The selected candidate will provide support for Radio Frequency saturation and reception coverage testing. Conduct test and validation of individual DAS devices from main head-end through to Remote Repeating Unit and verify radio frequency coverage performance is in compliance with the customer requirements. Provide faulty equipment exchanges and align installed hardware to location-based levels. Validate emergency power hardware is available for outages or faults. Maintain the network management system for the DAS devices to include the network management software. Maintain accurate records of all DAS device locations, nomenclature, maintenance hours in service, Radio Frequency signal levels and performance per device, impacts to DAS devices in construction areas, number of DAS devices serviced during 30, 60, and 90 day periods, Health of DAS for ad-hoc special event incident briefings, and inventory of devices, parts and associated components for review during annual audit practices
Will provide tolerance conformance testing using RF Signal Analyzers and Generators and interrogate devices and confirm proper operation using network monitoring software. Diagnose/Repair/Replace device components when performing outside acceptable tolerances. Ensure fiber optic devices are within performance tolerances using optical measuring, equipment Capture faults and preventive maintenance information in web-based inventory and work ticket systems. Transport devices from storage/repair facility/product depot to operational or storage locations. Perform walk testing with full-duplex audio test platform, continuous duty transmitters, in-line spectrum analyzers and network monitoring control software. Management and maintenance of the Network Monitoring System, its routers/switches/servers and application clients. Design/Configure the Network Monitoring System web-GUI to include when new scripts are required to meet security audit findings. Manage the Linux OS kernel on the Network Monitoring System CPU within each of the RF over Fiber Remote units. Records Management in the United States Capitol Police (USCP) systems
This position is located in Washington, DC. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Washington DC or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 10 years of direct experience with telecommunications, integration design, installation and support (equivalent experience may be substituted for the degree)
Ability to pass a US Capitol Police Background Check
At least 5 years of experience with Land Mobile Radio DAS
At least 2 years of experience with FiberSpan brand LMR DAS products
Accredited DAS certification (ETA or BICSI acceptable)
Experience with the following:
RF power meters/in-line fixed value attenuation/IP-Protocol controlled Variable Gain Array devices/Linear wideband RF amplifiers/low-noise mid-gain RF signal amplifiers
Installation of foam and air dielectric coaxial cable connectors
Linux OS and syntax
Concept/designing/installing multi-leg antenna systems using Commscope/Andrews Heliax transmission line and accessories as primary signal carrier
Andrews/RFS Radiating cable systems
ServiceNow
Motorola Customer Programming Software
Netgear and Cisco router/switch devices and configuration scripts
HP Server centers and maintenance of RAID drive controls and backups
ICMP and SNMP protocols for managing Network Monitoring scripts
Network media converter systems over dedicated fiber networks
.NET and Java software application to include design atting
Commscope fiber optic cabling
AC/DC power supply systems to include battery backup topologies
Ability to navigate the DC/MD/VA area while transporting devices/materials
Strong troubleshooting and problem isolation techniques for solving complex troubles with telecommunication equipment, circuits, channels, and trunk troubles
Considerable knowledge base of secure communications instruments, MB lines, T-1 primary rate interfaces
Capable of performing essential technical maintenance activities and telecommunications equipment installations, de-installations IAW applicable published standards with minimal guidance
Training on any of the following products used to maintain/align a DAS: Anritsu/Aeroflex/Tektronic/General Dynamics/Bird Technologies

Experience with Juniper, Circuit to Packet (CTP-150)
Experience using test equipment such as O-scope, Fireberd, and transmission test sets
Familiarity with patch panels
Ability to be self-reliant
Ability to professionally interact with high level civilian officials on a daily basis
Quality assurance experience with both new and upgraded telecommunications systems
Trainer / training experience
Positive service-oriented attitude
Experience with larger enterprise IP networks and related networking equipment
Familiarity with Motorola portable and mobile radio accessories and how they work in unison with the devices
Familiarity with Motorola trunked digital radio operation with focus on affiliation process, devices operation when experiencing high traffic, declaring emergencies, navigation from the keypad vs channel selector
how the digital audio requires unique operating methods so to ensure clear transmission and reception
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $115779 - $196825
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
