VCA Madeira Animal Hospital is excited to expand our team and is currently seeking a Veterinary Assistant!
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our team! The ideal candidate will support our veterinarians and technicians in delivering top-notch medical care, ensuring the well-being of our patients, and maintaining a clean and organized facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and technicians during examinations, surgeries, and procedures.
- Safely restrain animals for treatments and diagnostics.
- Administer medications and vaccinations under supervision.
- Collect and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, feces).
- Perform basic diagnostic tests, including radiographs and blood tests.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Educate clients on general animal care, nutrition, and post-treatment instructions.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of examination rooms, surgical areas, and kennels.
- Manage inventory and order medical supplies as needed.
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and answering phones.
Schedule: Part-time opportunity with rotating Saturdays.
Compensation: Starting pay range is $15-17/hr.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 6+ months of experience in a veterinary setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Genuine compassion for animals and their owners.
