Introduction to the job
The Value Engineering competence provides a structured approach to increase make ASML’s product affordable while improving profitability by improving the Value of our products and reducing its integral Costs.
The Cost team specifies the total cost of our machines and targets of the value- and cost drivers in cooperation with the sectors within our organization. This will allow us to steer on margin optimization instead of cost reduction only.
The Value Engineer will operate from the Lifecycle cost and Value Management team and be present in projects and programs that require an extra focus on cost because of impact or risk. The Value Engineerwill work with product development teams to determine the value and cost drivers, finds improvements, and steers costs towards the targets. The Value Engineer acts as partner in the Development teams (D&E) / Functional clusters and creates an increased cost awareness, sense of urgency and facilitates to drive costs down.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Deep dives in technical topics, which result in Cost down opportunities
- Support the D&E functional clusters to manage value/cost in their development roadmap
- Supporting D&E, sourcing and Business Lines in the application of value and cost optimization methods: during the product design phase / during other phases of the product lifecycle in cross-functional workshops including suppliers
- Initiation of Value Engineering workshops and activities, identification of Value – Cost optimization opportunities in cross-functional collaboration with project teams, technical experts, procurement and suppliers via training on Value Engineering methodologies
- Maintain network with internal and external partners
- Support the product cost roadmap together with the Cost Architect
Education and Experience
- Master or Bachelor+ in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar.
- For this specific vacancy a strong background in Electronics design (power, or signal) is a pre requisite.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Product Development, Product architecture and/or industrialization.
- Experience in cost structure analysis, product cost optimization, cost driver analysis and target costing
- Familiar with Value Engineering methods and techniques or eager to learn the VE methods (being coached with the team)
- Affinity with improving the business not only in a technical way, but also an economical way
