The Role
As a UX/UI Designer, you'll create digital experiences, wireframes, and prototypes, working collaboratively in cross-functional teams while learning and growing your design skills.
Summary Generated by Built In

At Catch, we help some of New Zealand and Australia’s most recognised brands create meaningful, inclusive, and impactful digital experiences. We’re growing our design capability and looking for UX/UI Designers in Auckland and Wellington who bring curiosity, craft, and a user-centred mindset, whether you’re just starting out or have a couple of years of experience under your belt.

If you’re hands-on, thoughtful, and passionate about turning ideas into beautifully executed digital experiences, this could be the role for you.

What you’ll do

You’ll work as part of cross-functional teams to design websites, apps, and digital products across a wide range of clients and sectors. Depending on your experience, you’ll either support delivery or take ownership of your design streams, with plenty of opportunity to grow and develop your craft.

You will:

  • Create wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and high-fidelity UI designs across responsive web and mobile
  • Contribute to or lead the UX/UI design process from discovery through delivery
  • Support or conduct user research, usability testing, and synthesis to inform design direction
  • Design inclusive, accessible experiences aligned with user needs, brand guidelines, and client goals
  • Work with design systems, component libraries, and established patterns in Figma
  • Collaborate closely with developers, consultants, content designers, and producers to ensure design integrity through implementation
  • Present and communicate design decisions with clarity and confidence (with support if you’re earlier in your career)
  • Participate in critiques, workshops, and team rituals that strengthen how we design and deliver
  • Contribute to improving our design practice, tools, and ways of working by sharing ideas, knowledge, and inspiration

Requirements

We’re open to designers at the early stages of their careers—from emerging talent to those with a couple of years of hands-on experience in UX/UI.

You’ll bring some or all of the following:

  • A solid interest in UX and UI design, with an understanding of human-centred design principles
  • A portfolio showing your thinking, process, and design outcomes (at any level)
  • Experience using Figma and modern design/prototyping tools
  • Familiarity with responsive design, accessibility, and mobile-first principles
  • Curiosity, empathy, and a genuine passion for creating intuitive, inclusive digital experiences
  • Attention to detail, strong organisation, and a collaborative mindset
  • The ability to communicate design decisions clearly
  • A desire to learn, grow, and contribute to a supportive and high-performing team

Most importantly, you’ll embody Catch’s mission: Do good by our team, do good by our clients, and deliver great work.

Benefits

At Catch, we love what we do and value balance, well-being, and growth. Here’s what you’ll get:

  • Flexible working—with core hours that fit your lifestyle
  • 4 weeks annual leave + 5 “Happy days” per year
  • Your birthday off
  • Full healthcare insurance—including dental and optical, wellness leave, and regular well-being initiatives
  • Professional growth—personalised development, learning lunches, and structured career progression
  • Team culture—central city offices, great snacks, company-wide events

Ready to design meaningful digital experiences and grow your craft in a team that champions quality, curiosity, and collaboration? Apply now.

To apply, we need the following:

  1. A cover letter introducing yourself, telling us why you want to work with us and why you love working as a designer. Please attach or link to your portfolio.
  2. An up-to-date CV which outlines your relevant experience.
  3. At least two references we can contact. Direct managers or leads from your last two roles. We won't call them until things get serious between us... promise.
