We are looking for a UX Front-end Engineer who will sit at the intersection of user experience design and front-end development, working to bridge the gap between designers and developers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build intuitive, user-centered interfaces and ensure a seamless interaction experience across products. Your role involves both design thinking and the technical ability to implement those designs. This role will report into the Director of Engineering and will be crucial in shaping the future of climate-tech SaaS products. 

In this role you will:

• Collaborate with UI/UX Designers: Work closely with the design team to convert wireframes, mockups, and prototypes into interactive, high-fidelity user interfaces using react front-end technologies.
• Front-End Development: Develop, implement, and maintain the React front-end architecture, ensuring intuitiveness,usability, accessibility, and responsiveness across devices.
• User-Centered Design: Apply UX principles such as usability, accessibility, and interaction design to enhance user experience in all aspects of product design and implementation.
• Design Systems: Help in the creation and maintenance of Terrascope design systems, ensuring consistency and scalability across products.
• Prototyping: Build interactive prototypes for user testing and internal feedback using front-end technologies or prototyping tools.
• Usability Testing & Iteration: Participate in and support usability testing efforts, gathering feedback, analyzing results, and iterating on designs to improve the user experience.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Act as the liaison between design and engineering teams, facilitating the smooth integration of design into development.
• Performance Optimization: Ensure that user interfaces are performant, accessible, and scalable, following web standards and best practices.
• Documentation: Provide clear documentation for UI components, patterns, and code to support future development efforts.

You should have:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 3+ years of experience in a similar role (UX Engineer, Front-End Engineer, Interaction Designer).
• Proficient in front-end development technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular, or Vue.js.
• Strong understanding of UX principles, usability testing, and design systems.
• Experience with prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and how to implement accessible interfaces.
• Strong communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and translate design vision into functional products.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
• Experience working in lean teams, developing and learning as we go.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and communicating technical concepts to internal & external stakeholders.
