The (USA) Staff, Software Engineer plays a critical role in delivering scalable platform capabilities and driving the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. This position leads technical execution aligned with strategic roadmaps, applies cloud-native architecture principles, and integrates AI/ML solutions to enhance platform functionality. The role involves mentoring engineers, influencing architectural decisions, and collaborating across teams to translate complex requirements into actionable solutions. About the team:
The Marketplace Engineering team develops and maintains core platforms supporting Walmart’s extensive product range and competitive pricing. This team manages the seller lifecycle, monitors customer interactions, and delivers risk features to address marketplace challenges. Collaborating with partner platform teams, they ensure seamless integration and continuous enhancement of seller and customer experiences on walmart.com. Utilizing cloud-native architecture, software design patterns, and data-driven decision-making, the team builds scalable, resilient solutions that drive operational excellence and innovation across the marketplace ecosystem.
What you'll do:

• Lead development of full stack features, from user interfaces to backend services, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Translate product requirements into robust technical designs and implementation plans.
• Build advanced and reusable ReactJS components and high-performance web applications using TypeScript, NodeJS, and related technologies.
• Architect and implement backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs, following best practices in distributed systems.
• Collaborate closely with architects, staff engineers, product managers, and QA engineers to ensure technical alignment and successful delivery.
• Help steer platform modernization and migration efforts, ensuring seamless transition from legacy systems to modern architectures.

What you'll bring:

• Expertise in ReactJS, Redux, TypeScript, ES6, NodeJS, and front-end performance optimization.
• Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs for robust and secure communication between frontend and backend systems.
• Strong hold on Node.js for server-side JavaScript and associated backend development.
• Cloud experience (GCP, Azure) and deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar).
• Solid grounding in data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.
• Proven track record of leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and driving continuous improvement.
• Experience with containerization tools such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
