The (USA) Staff, Software Engineer plays a critical role in delivering scalable platform capabilities by leading software development and lifecycle management, including coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. About the team:
The Walmart Fulfillment Services Billing team within the Global Marketplace organization focuses on designing and building scalable, resilient billing solutions that enhance operational efficiency and support growth. This team emphasizes auditability, traceability, quality, and reliability in processing invoices, incentives, and adjustments. Members drive architectural excellence, adopt modern technologies including AI capabilities, and collaborate across teams to solve complex challenges in a distributed, high-scale environment. The team values technical leadership, innovation, and continuous improvement to deliver robust software solutions aligned with business objectives.
What you'll do:

• Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
• Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Apply cloud-native architecture principles to build scalable, resilient, and agile systems using microservices and automation.
• Conduct system design reviews to ensure quality, feasibility, and alignment with architectural standards.
• Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable technical requirements.
• Utilize data-driven approaches to define success metrics and optimize development processes.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance code quality, tools, and engineering productivity.

What you'll bring:

• Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to deliver scalable and resilient platforms.
• Strong proficiency in Java and experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark and Apache Kafka.
• Demonstrated ability to lead full software development lifecycle activities, including design reviews, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
• Experience in API design, software prototyping, and applying software design patterns for maintainable and modular solutions.
• Skilled in DevOps engineering practices to enhance developer productivity and platform reliability.
• Ability to mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through continuous improvement.
• Data-driven mindset to define metrics, optimize processes, and align technical solutions with business goals.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
