Purpose & Scope
The US Commercial Finance Partner, Revenue provides financial leadership and decision support to key stakeholders and senior leaders responsible for Astellas US Commercial Business. Individual is expected to influence assigned business partners’ choices and priorities, establishing a climate of financial stewardship and championing value creation. Individual provides actionable insights, financial analytics, financial and management reporting that guides and informs to help shape business initiatives, strategy, and operational excellence. The individual holds core responsibilities for Financial Planning and Analysis processes, including monthly close cycles, annual budget, and quarterly financial forecasts.
This position has core responsibilities for partnering with US Commercial, Contracts & Pricing, Government Pricing, Rebate Operations and Systems, Global Financial Services, Internal/External Auditors and FP&A COE to support Gross-to-Net (GTN) sales accounting. This position is responsible for and owns the GNT sales accounting, analytics, and subsequent reporting of results to Senior Management. This position is also responsible for ensuring GTN forecast alignment between Commercial Finance and Contracts & Pricing.
This position coordinates and collaborates with cross-functional partners in the FP&A COE, GFS, and Global Finance to ensure controls and compliance with IFRS and J-SOX. S/he plays an important role in executing Global Finance Strategies, and other corporate (US/Global) transformative changes in ensuring improvement in US Commercial performance, sustainability of operations and alignment with enterprise strategy.
Member of the US Commercial Finance team. The position serves as a Finance Lead on relevant Gross-to-Net (Revenue Accounting) committees. S/he works in a matrix way, understanding and influencing the US Commercial division priorities to achieve objectives.
Role and Responsibilities
- Coordinates monthly revenue accounting closes and ensures all liabilities are properly accrued for in accordance with Company policy/IFRS/J-SOX.
- Ensures all underlying transactions generated are in accordance with accounting principles established by the Company.
- Provide all internal, external and royalty audit assistance for quarterly/annual reviews and audits including J-SOX surrounding GTN activities.
- Preparation of detailed payment vs. accrual tracking reports and analyses.
- Partners and coordinates all GTN operational accounting and reporting activity, including cross-functional collaboration with numerous internal clients and departments.
- Partners with Contracts & Pricing and Government Pricing to incorporate all known liabilities in monthly GTN accruals.
- Responsible for completion of monthly account analyses and monthly and quarterly GTN reporting and analytics packages.
- Collaborate with Finance and Contracts & Pricing to support recommendations to Senior Management regarding the GTN budget and strategic direction that supports the Company’s financial objectives.
- Work collaboratively to perform detailed variance analysis to explain to internal customers forecast and GTN variances.
- Improve and maintain transparency of GTN activities across functions.
- Identifies, designs, and implements ongoing forecasting methodology and process improvements across the Reserves team (automation & simplification projects).
- Responsible for calculation, accounting and forecasting for Astellas Branded Pharma fee.
- Actively monitor industry trends to continuously benchmark and subsequently elevate Astellas’ functionality as it pertains to GTN accounting and sales forecasting.
- Implement and maintain policies and procedures established for the department, including identified J-SOX controls.
- Lead the maintenance / development of processes and tools to ensure GTN forecast alignment between Commercial Finance and Contracts & Pricing.
- Partner with Contracts & Pricing, Government Pricing, Market Research, Brand Marketing and Management to ensure forecast models are properly capturing the correct GTN input variables and producing the optimal outputs.
- Provide quarterly gross sales (demand & inventory) estimates to Contracts & Pricing for quarterly GTN builds, including working with Supply Chain to obtain potential orders or discuss any irregularities in trends.
- Be a Subject-Matter-Expert in Revenue Recognition (IFRS 15) organizationally to assist in any revenue related matters.
- Responsible for Weekly Sales Reporting to the Company.
Compliance:
- Embed Compliance Culture, ensuring Integrity in Action is actively applied in all initiatives, and proactively address non-compliance.
- Ensure a culture of Ethics and Compliance; lead by example and incorporate cross-cultural perspectives when addressing challenging situations.
Other:
- Support and own forecast allocation process for US-Commercial.
- Aid in forecasting GTN for Established/Non-Promoted products within US-Commercial portfolio.
Financial:
- Responsible for gross-to-net sales accounting with an annual budget of approximately +$6B and balance sheet liabilities of +$1B.
- Responsible for calculation, accounting and forecasting of US Branded Pharma Fee ~$60M to ~$70M a calendar year.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’ Degree required in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- English professional level in speaking and writing.
Minimum Experience
- 5 + years employment experience, in finance functions including accounting, costing and/or FP&A.
- Strong FP&A skills, with good technical financial background (i.e. accounting, internal control, compliance)
- Solid experience in business partnering and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Solid experience with ERP (SAP) and Planning systems (BPC preferred).
- Profound experience with Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience in process improvement and project management is preferred.
- Experience in Pharma industry is preferred.
- Experience in Public Accounting is preferred.

Salary Range
$111,300-$178,000 (Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and organizational equity considerations.)
