The US Circularity Reporting role will sit within our Sustainability team.
The Sustainability team supports delivery of client Sustainability strategic objectives, focused on product and supply chain, through operations, reporting and legislation tracking. To do so, our team collaborates with key partners across various internal and client cross-functional teams, Suppliers, Consultants and external organizations. Our global Sustainability team sits across 3 geographic regions, supporting global, regional and market activities.
This role will lead development of new reporting capabilities to support our multi-national client comply with newly emerging legal mandates in the US , our largest market of operations . You will be given a high amount of autonomy and responsibility to collaboratively design, implement, maintain, and continually improve this process.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ORGANIZATION
This individual will be committed to building new capabilities that support client compliance. You are comfortable across multiple areas, including navigating product databases, analyzing regulatory text and engaging clients. You enjoy problem-solving, collaborating, strategic planning; you will always strive to help clients comply with laws and regulations.
For this reason, a high level of experience and detail-orientation is needed to be effective in this role. The candidate will be a strategic-thinker, effective project planner, and communicator who has demonstrated trust in meeting compliance timelines with quality results.
Primary objectives of this role include the following:

  • Serve as Lead for Circularity Compliance Reporting and Document Management to enable client compliance with product and packaging obligations.
  • Manage the alignment of Global strategy and US market requirements for compliance reporting, to meet client needs.
  • Lead key partner collaboration, includinginternal, client, Suppliers to achieve objectives.
  • Collaboratively develop technical and governance processes to enable compliance with reporting and document management requirements for packaging and products.
  • Monitor and compile the reporting and documentation compliance obligations (including, e.g., data, methodologies and definitions) impacting client packaging and products in the US.
  • Assess business impact and communicate the product packaging compliance regulations/requirements (upcoming or changing) based on jurisdiction and packaging/product material in scope.
  • Identify and recommend options to achieve compliance and mitigate identified risks as they relate to regulatory compliance.
  • Implement , coordinate and maintain businesses processes to comply with regulatory reporting and document management requirements, including report set ups, data analytics and data management.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures for the timely audit of compliance and reporting of required information and documentation.
  • Regularly report to management on efforts to maintain reporting and document management compliance for packaging and products.
  • Drive continuous improvement of reporting and document compliance business practices to deliver results effectively and efficiently, including product packaging standards, guidance, and database.
  • Define and develop a strategic compliance plan related to emerging packaging and product regulations impacting reporting and document management.
  • Develop and implement training/awareness plan related to reporting and document management compliance and business impacts for different internal partners.
  • Manage external consultants on reporting and document management regulatory compliance.
  • Advise on topics pertaining to regulatory compliance requirements e.g., software subscription designed to comply with regulatory reporting and document management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current and future reporting and document management regulatory compliance, through trade associations, external committees, regular review of relevant publications and subscription services, and interactions with external experts and advisors.
  • Work on ad-hoc projects and duties as required by management


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE WOULD LIKE YOU TO HAVE

  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental policy, economics, sustainability management or a related field
  • 8+ years relevant professional experience preferred in regulatory affairs, compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and operationalize product (and chemical?) sustainability regulations.
  • Knowledge and experience managing compliance with product regulatory and/or emerging corporate sustainability regulations, through reporting, document and database management, audit management, and other relevant aspects
  • Knowledge and experience managing processes and disclosures related to product sustainability attributes and impacts, such as: Life-cycle Assessments (LCAs), Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs),
  • Proficiency in coordinating Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements and sustainability reporting
  • Evidence of strategy development for company product compliance.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams, including consultants, to achieve objectives
  • Client management expertise with a high level of articulation around relevant topics (regulatory compliance).

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and effectively manage muti-faceted work using a risk-based approach.
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills; clear, succinct, and tailored to audience.

  • Experience with packaging businesses and processes is preferable.
  • Commercial astuteness with the proven ability to appreciate the business and technical requirements for success.
