As an Urban Mobility Team - Group Leader, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team on multiple, high-profile projects for a range of public and private sector clients. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a collaborative team of engineers, planners, and landscape architects to address the most pressing issues facing our communities and be part of a team that develops creative planning and engineering solutions to address changing land-use and infrastructure demands. You’ll be encouraged to be a creative leader, dedicated to meshing the emerging trends in urban mobility with the best practices of transportation planning. Your fundamental knowledge, engineering, planning and communication skills will be utilized to lead multi-disciplinary project teams and grow a thriving transportation planning practice within the North Central region. Potential projects include everything from complex urban mobility studies to more routine corridor studies and system-wide transportation planning efforts. Our clients generally include Local, State, and Federal government agencies.

Your Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development
- Lead business development efforts, including market research.
- Develop, maintain and strengthen client relationships while playing a key role in client management and satisfaction, developing leads, and securing contracts to support utilization goals for the team and your group.
- Work with BC Leadership to identify priorities and strategic opportunities in geographic markets.
- Actively contribute to thought leadership, win strategies, key pursuits and successful project execution.
- Champion project pursuits through initiating and developing client relationships, shaping teams to innovatively meet project needs, writing compelling proposals, and developing fees.
- Contribute to management of the Urban Mobility team’s Marketing and Business Development Spend focusing on pursuing projects and clients with a higher percentage of win rates.
- Contribute to Strategic Pursuit of Top 20 Project Opportunities
- Work with other teams within and outside of the BC to promote work sharing and other collaborative efforts to help integrate employees into a variety of opportunities within the BC and overall Stantec.
Staff Development
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to staff and promote inter-office collaboration including being directly present in the office at least 3 days of each work week.
- Support the group’s overall talent management lifecycle including career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching and mentoring, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development.
- Help to communicate and advance the Team’s vision, business strategy and strategic plan.
- Support the Urban Mobility Team Leader(s) with managing performance and compensation in accordance with Stantec’s compensation philosophy through quarterly and yearly employee performance review (YEPR), rate review, and STIP/bonus allocation.
- Establish employee connectedness within the group by interfacing frequently with employees.
- Encourage participation in ERGs, DPG and other activities to support a healthy office culture.
- Uphold a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices, encourages individual integrity, and focuses on the customer and service delivery.
- Support health and safety performance of group members, including the monitoring of leading and lagging indicators, and meeting leading indicator goals.
Project Development/Technical Operations
- You will prepare and manage a comprehensive and diverse range of urban mobility and transportation projects from preliminary scoping through final design.
- You will provide technical expertise related to corridor projects and plans, roadway and multimodal design integrating pedestrian, bikeway, transit, vehicular elements, and bridge.
- You will provide Plans, schedules, and conduct, and coordinate the technical aspects of projects for the team.
- You will supervise, coordinate and review the work of other professionals who assist in specific assignments.
- You will work closely with civil engineers, traffic engineers, urban planners, and developers on plans for projects.
- You will oversee relationships with clients, agencies and others to be aware of project requirements.
- You will recognize when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
- You will review and manage your own work for accuracy and coordinate with others to ensure QA/QC of deliverables.
- You will perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
- Highly effective in assisting and leading teams on complex projects.
- Demonstrates ability to readily identify potential challenges/issues on a project.
- Efficient project management of multiple concurrent projects.
- Highly effective in building and maintaining client relationships.
- Ability to craft compelling proposals, including strategic fee proposals.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in the field of transportation planning or engineering.
You will work in an open-concept office setting. Local travel may be required for attending client or public meetings, scoping new assignments, and visiting project sites.
