Job Summary:
The Furniture Sewer is responsible for preparing materials and operating sewing machines to produce high-quality upholstery covers using fabric, leather, or vinyl. This role includes pulling and matching materials according to work orders, setting up and maintaining sewing equipment, ensuring finished products meet quality standards, and keeping the work area organized. The position may also assist with related tasks, including cutting, as needed.
Responsibilities:
Upholstery Preparation
- Place units on lifts for efficient and ergonomic upholstery processing.
- Apply poly/foam/dacron to frames to prepare for upholstery.
Upholstery Application
- Upholster seating products using fabric, leather, or vinyl.
- Pull material and shape units by hand or using a seat press, ensuring precise pattern matching and exceptional quality.
- Utilize small tools and staple guns to securely attach materials to units.
- Apply welts and other decorative items to fabric as specified.
- Attach upholstered units to frames as required.
Quality Control and Repair
- Conduct thorough quality checks on parts to ensure adherence to high standards and perform necessary repairs.
