The Academic Advisor 2 in the College of Pharmacy will foster student success by implementing proactive strategies and procedures that help students stay on track to fulfill their educational goals and advance advisement initiatives This position carries a case roster for advising; provides advisement on college and university policy, general education, prerequisites, major course requirements, and other academic matters including course sequencing, minors, dual degrees, certificates, graduation etc. The Advisor will help identify resources and collaborations for resolving student cases while managing complex student issues independently or with the help of Advising leadership. Reviews and processes add/drops, withdrawals, and major and campus change requests; provides referrals to appropriate units for financial, mental health and other services. This position also advises, processes and serves as the point of contact for all campus change and transfer students and is responsible for the transition process for those students. Additionally, this position will be responsible for tasks such as keeping up to date curriculum materials on the College of Pharmacy website and internal website and communicating any updates to necessary college of pharmacy and campus partners. This position will also assist in coordination of student orientation in coordination with other advising team members.
Working with the advising team, the Advisor 2 develops course content and leads instruction for PHR 1100 and/or PHR 1100H. The Advisor 2 also serves as a liaison to college and university partners on matters related to advising, including, but not limited to, the University Registrar, the Degree Audit team, OnCourse, the College of Pharmacy Communications and Marketing team, and the Office of Admissions and Recruitment. This position will serve as the OnCourse user expert, helping the advising team develop more efficient processes and generating student reports.
The Advisor 2 serves as the primary representative for the College of Pharmacy to University Housing and the Pharmacy Living Learning Community (LLC). In collaboration with University Housing, this position plans and implements co-curricular programs, activities, and processes that support the Pharmacy LLC. The Advisor 2 is also responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating programs and special events, including event setup and teardown. Attendance at these events and programs is an essential function of the position and may require work outside of normal business hours.
Provides and documents one-on-one advising to a caseload of undergraduate students regarding academic issues and relevance of academic program(s) to a student’s goals. Counsels on general education, prerequisite requirements, and major courses for specific programs – including course sequencing. Advises students dealing with academic, probationary, and financial concerns. The advising caseload may include specialized student populations, including, but not limited to, combined degree students, honors students, transfer students, students changing majors or campuses, and student-athletes. Supports coordination of and leads advising sessions for student orientation and support logistics of the orientation program.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs/personnel, or related field. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required.
Desired Experience: Experience supporting student success through advising, coaching, or mentoring. 4-8 years ofrelevant experience is desired.
Additional Information:The pay range for this job profile is $50,000 - $58,000. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
