Our client is building a team of designers, researchers, and writers to support their mission. The Senior Front End Designer is responsible for contributing individually and through others throughout the design lifecycle, supporting the 4 phases of the UCD process: Discovery, Define, Build (Design & Test), and Delivery. You will help oversee the design and strategy of User Experience and Interaction. You will be working onsite alongside the client to complete the following:

  • Create and implement Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), HTML5 markup language, and other markup languages as needed to support design implementation
  • Create detailed wireframes for complex web and mobile applications
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams and application users to conceptualize, design, and prototype excellent user experiences while maintaining functionality and simple workflows
  • Research and implement modern web technologies to create innovative user interfaces and improve workflow efficiency
  • Build efficient, reusable libraries of design information for future use
  • Create internal design products to facilitate digital transformation
  • Create products and services that adhere to design and brand guidelines
  • Translate architecture and other technical solutions into design products
  • Demonstrate visual expertise including gathering raw data from various sources and developing comprehensive and visually engaging designs.
  • Consult with client to define the strategy needed to expand and enhance the website in both scope of content and technical features.
  • Work closely with developers and quality assurance engineers

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in arts, communications, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience with User Interface Design and Development strategies
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing a web design software (e.g., Adobe Master Collection CS6/Adobe Creative Cloud, Sketch, InVision Studio)
  • Demonstrated experience designing products for front-end development and web applications (e.g. wireframes, low and high-fidelity mock-ups, or click through prototypes).
  • Demonstrated experience applying best practices for improving web accessibility, usability, and technical implementation with usability tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch, InVision, Axure, Framer, Adobe XD).
  • Demonstrated experience creating, editing, organizing, and storing digital file formats (e.g. tiff, gif, png, pdf, jpg, svg, html, css).
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills to insure meaningful engagement and partnership with project stakeholders
  • A strong understanding of User Experience Research methodologies to incorporate user insights collected from various Customer Experience (CX) Measurement channels (web analytics, surveys, user testing, focus groups) into enhancements requirements, user stories, and designs
  • Prior experience in reviewing existing systems and processes to identify UX issues and develop UX recommendations
  • Experience with modern design tools like Sketch, Figma, Axure, Principle, Framer, and InVision
  • Ability to travel 20 - 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • Ability to work on client location in the DC area
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Active Top Secret (TS/SCI) with Polygraph security clearance required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates your experience, storytelling, and design presentation skills
  • Expertise in front-end technologies, including JavaScript, CSS3 and HTML5 and third-party libraries such as React.JS and Angular
  • Knowledge of server-side programming languages and frameworks including TypeScript, Node.js, .Net, and Python
  • Demonstrated experience developing in cloud-based DevOps environment.
  • Demonstrated experience with business workflow and appropriate capabilities/tools (e.g. JIRA, etc.).
  • Experience communicating complex ideas graphically within a complex environment (public sector preferred)
  • Experience leading Stakeholder Workshops
  • Proven ability to drive the design direction in terms of user interaction and design patterns
  • Experience with Agile Software Development Methodology

This compensation range is specific to California, Colorado, Jersey City, Nevada, New York state, and Washington state and considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $97,875 to $171,250.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
