- Enterprise UI/UX architecture: the long-term design architecture strategy across all products.
- Enterprise Design System: tokens, typography, color, spacing, grid, components, patterns, accessibility, and responsive standards — owned and evolved centrally.
- UI Foundation Layer: reusable screens and patterns (auth, navigation, dashboards, tables, forms, filters, notifications, empty / loading / error states) that every product consumes.
- UX Governance: the design review process, quality gates, accessibility compliance, and pattern library governance.
- UX Research practice: the methods and cadence for user research, journey mapping, and usability validation across products.
- Design capability building: mentoring UI/UX designers and guiding front-end engineers on usability principles.
- Product roadmap or feature prioritization: owned by Product Managers.
- Product-specific UX decisions: co-owned with Product Managers within the enterprise design system — this role sets the standards, Product Managers decide the product's specific workflows.
- Engineering implementation and technology stack decisions: owned by Engineering Architects; this role ensures designs are aligned with and feasible on the chosen stack.
- People management of designers embedded in product teams: reporting model to be confirmed with leadership.
- Brand identity and marketing collateral: owned by Marketing/Brand, where such a function exists; this role ensures product UX stays brand-compliant.
- Define the long-term UI/UX architecture strategy across all products and own the scalable enterprise design framework.
- Establish standardized UX principles, reusable interaction models, navigation frameworks, and common user journeys for enterprise workflows.
- Define information architecture standards and a scalable component taxonomy that enables rapid product development.
- Own and evolve the enterprise Design System: tokens, typography, color, spacing/grid, icons, components, templates, patterns, accessibility, and responsive/mobile/tablet/desktop standards.
- Build reusable component libraries that every product team consumes, ensuring complete consistency across the portfolio.
- Architect and standardize a reusable UI foundation layer — authentication, navigation, search, dashboards, notifications, tables/data grids, forms, filters, pagination, reports, wizards, dialogs, and standard empty/loading/error/success states.
- Ensure this foundation reduces implementation effort for every future product and module.
- Partner with Product Managers to design differentiated experiences for ERP, POS, OMS, WMS, Inventory, Finance, Reporting, and AI-enabled workflows.
- Translate business workflows into intuitive digital experiences within the enterprise design system.
- Drive organization-wide initiatives to reduce clicks, simplify workflows, lower cognitive load, and improve discoverability, navigation, and first-time usability.
- Lead personalization, context-aware, and AI-assisted interaction initiatives.
- Lead UX research: user interviews, customer workshops, journey mapping, personas, task analysis, usage analytics, A/B testing, and prototype validation.
- Use research findings to continuously improve products and validate design decisions before they scale enterprise-wide.
- Establish and run governance mechanisms: design reviews, UX quality gates, design approval process, component governance, accessibility and brand compliance, and release readiness reviews.
- Ensure no product ships a pattern outside the design system without going through governance.
- Collaborate with Engineering Architects to ensure designs align with the technology stack and are technically scalable.
- Partner with engineering teams through implementation to protect design intent.
- Work across Product Management, Engineering, Customer Support, Customer Success, Sales, and Implementation teams — influencing without direct authority.
- Mentor UI/UX designers, guide front-end engineers, and conduct design workshops to build organizational design capability.
- Track industry trends (AI-powered UX, conversational interfaces, design automation, micro-frontends, cross-platform design) and recommend adoption where it strengthens the enterprise experience.
Skills Required
- 14+ years of experience in UI/UX design and architecture
- 5+ years leading enterprise design systems
- Experience architecting UX across multiple products in an enterprise SaaS organization
- Deep expertise in design systems, accessibility standards, and interaction pattern architecture
- Strong front-end technical fluency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript or TypeScript, and React, Angular, or Vue
- Experience running UX governance, design reviews, quality gates, and pattern library management
- Experience operating in a matrix organization and influencing Product, Engineering, and Customer Success without direct authority
- Strong UX research practice, including user interviews, journey mapping, usage analytics, and A/B testing
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction, Information Design, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Master’s degree
- Retail domain experience, including POS, ERP, order management, warehouse management, omnichannel retail, e-commerce, or supply chain
- Experience with Figma, FigJam, Storybook, design tokens, or micro-frontend architecture
- Exposure to AI-enabled product experiences and conversational interfaces
- Experience working with globally distributed product and engineering teams
- Certifications in UX, HCI, Interaction Design, Accessibility, or Design Thinking
