The Role
Define unmanned aerial vehicle system architectures and translate business and technical requirements into subsystem specifications. Design interfaces across mechanical, electrical, communication, and software systems; support prototype integration; resolve system-level blockers; and document trade-offs involving performance, cost, weight, flight time, payload, manufacturability, and scalability. The role coordinates multiple engineering teams across airframe, avionics, propulsion, power, sensors, communications, and production.

UAV Systems Architect
Overview

We are looking for a UAV System Architect to define the architecture of unmanned aerial vehicles and guide key technical decisions across airframe, avionics, propulsion, power systems, sensors, communication, and production.

This role connects business and market requirements with engineering execution, ensuring that UAV platforms are technically coherent, scalable, and ready for integration and manufacturing.

Technology Stack
  • UAV architecture and airframe configuration

  • Aerodynamics, mechanics, and structural design

  • Avionics, sensors, autopilots, and communication systems

  • Propulsion, power, and onboard electronics

  • Hardware and software interfaces

  • ICD, ADR, DfM

  • Prototyping, integration, and serial production

What you will work on and what problems you may solve
  • Define UAV system architecture based on business, market, and technical requirements.

  • Translate high-level requirements into specifications for subsystems and engineering teams.

  • Design mechanical, electrical, communication, and software interfaces between subsystems.

  • Support prototype integration and resolve system-level blockers.

  • Make and document trade-off decisions between performance, cost, weight, flight time, payload, manufacturability, and scalability.

What we are looking for
  • Strong experience in UAV, aircraft, drone, or complex hardware system architecture.

  • Solid understanding of aerodynamics, mechanics, structural design, avionics, propulsion, and power systems.

  • Experience with sensors, communication systems, autopilots, and system integration.

  • Ability to create clear technical specifications and align multiple engineering teams.

  • Strong ownership, proactivity, clear communication, assertiveness, teamwork, and adaptability.

Nice to have
  • Experience taking UAV platforms from concept to prototype or serial production.

  • Hands-on experience with autopilots, avionics, sensors, or UAV communication systems.

  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing and production cost drivers.

  • Experience with ICDs, ADRs, integration testing, or cross-functional engineering teams.

Skills Required

  • Strong experience in UAV, aircraft, drone, or complex hardware system architecture
  • Understanding of aerodynamics, mechanics, structural design, avionics, propulsion, and power systems

What We Do

Sentinel Eagle develops autonomous UAV systems and non-GNSS navigation technology for drones operating where GPS and communications fail. Its visual-inertial-odometry technology uses camera feeds, satellite imagery, and onboard computing to determine a drone’s position relative to the ground. The company’s systems integrate with flight controllers and support autonomous flights across challenging terrain, including low-visual-diversity environments, without operator communication or beacons.
