Job Description
IDS is seeking a UAS Engineer II to support the integration, operation, and engineering of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) within training, test, and operational environments. The selected candidate will provide technical expertise across UAS platforms, communications systems, payload integration, and mission support activities. This role will support the incorporation of UAS capabilities into cyber-physical training scenarios, exercises, and testing events while ensuring compliance with applicable operational and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess experience with small UAS platforms, RF communications, and the technical considerations required to operate UAS in complex and contested environments.
Key Duties
• Support the operation, maintenance, integration, and engineering of Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
• Configure and support small UAS platforms, ground control systems, and payloads.
• Support RF communications links and associated UAS systems.
• Assist with integration of UAS capabilities into training scenarios and exercise events.
• Support UAS activities within cyber-physical training and operational environments.
• Participate in testing, evaluation, and validation of UAS systems and capabilities.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to support mission and training objectives.
• Support UAS airspace coordination and operational planning activities.
• Assist with RF spectrum analysis and frequency coordination efforts.
• Maintain technical documentation and support system troubleshooting activities.
• Provide technical recommendations related to UAS operations and system integration.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Active Secret security clearance required with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience operating, maintaining, integrating, or engineering Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) in a DoD or defense contractor environment.
• Demonstrated experience with small UAS (sUAS) platforms, including ground control systems, RF communications links, and payload integration.
• Demonstrated experience supporting UAS operations within cyber-physical training, test, or operational environments.
• Familiarity with FAA Part 107 regulations and DoD UAS airspace coordination and policy frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience integrating UAS into training scenarios, exercise support, or test and evaluation events.
• Knowledge of RF spectrum considerations, link budget analysis, and frequency coordination for UAS operations in congested or contested environments.

Skills Required
