Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must be able to prepare timber loads for transportation down roads and highways.
- Must have good work ethics and willing to work with and assist co-workers.
- Must be aware of SMZ (stream management zones) areas.
- Must read and understand “Georgia’s Best Management Practices for Forestry” Manual.
Primary Duties:
- Must be able to operate a pole saw.
- Must ensure loads are trimmed properly so the loads meet legal requirements for transportation using state and federal roadways.
- Must ensure loads are trimmed properly to meet mill specifications. (i.e., limbs are trimmed flush to each tree, and tree tops are cut to the proper size.)
Secondary Duties:
- Must wear appropriate PPE at all times.
- Must complete all applicable maintenance videos.
- Must complete all applicable safety videos.
Skills Needed to Perform Job:
- Previous experience is preferred; however, on-the-job training from an experienced trimmer is an option.
- Must be able to lift pole saw over-head.
- Must be able to sharpen and maintain saw blades.
