Average Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, with potential overtime after the regular shift and/or on Saturdays based on production needs.

Job Summary:

At Lucchese, craftsmanship is the foundation of our brand. As a trim upper associate, the employee is responsible for sanding and trimming excessive lining martial from the uppers using a sanding machine or a utility knife. In addition, this position will be aligned with Lucchese values, consistent policy administration, and a safe work environment. 

This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to maintain a fast-paced, production-driven manufacturing environment. And contributes to maintaining production flow within the manufacturing process.

Scope of job:

Trimming uppers on a cowboy boot involves several tasks to ensure the boots' durability and fit. The process of removing excess material from the side of the boot is to ensure a clean and precise fit on the sides. Starting the machine and positioning the workpiece on the feed roller beneath the cutter guard to begin the trimming process. And inspect leather pieces to ensure proper trimming before the boots advance to the next stage of production.

Duties/Responsibilities:

All responsibilities mentioned below can be modified but not limited based on the company’s needs.

  • Obtain upper box from previous department.
  • Place the upper box in the working station.
  • Get one upper piece at a time and place it on the table.
  • Once the upper piece is set on the table, grab pairs to cut or sand excessive lining.
  • Place clean cut upper in a box.
  • Once a box of uppers is clean then it is taken to the next working station.
  • Responsible for sharpening knife with knife sharpening.
  • Keep workstation organized and compliant with safety guidelines.
  • Meet daily production targets while maintaining quality expectations.
  • Follow all safety guidelines.

  • Maintain daily production targets established by the department.
  • Minimize rework and material wastes through carful craftsmanship.
  • Support team production flow and meet departmental efficiency standards.
  • Demonstrate commitment to craftsmanship and continuous improvement.

Required Skills/ Abilities

  •  Open to learn and perform cross training in different areas.
  • Ability to lead by example and obtain support from co-workers and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong team player with the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Passion and desire for excellence by consistently exceeding quality expectations.
  • Willingness to work overtime as production demands require.
  • Will need to perform other duties as assigned.

Education, experience, and/ certifications

  • High school Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in boot manufacturing, leather goods production, or an industrial environment required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, production-driven manufacturing environment.
  • Frequent use of hands, wrists, and fingers for repetitive sanding and cutting motion.
  • Ability to focus and precision throughout repetitive tasks.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds as needed.
