Transport Planning & Traffic Engineering Lead

As Queensland enters a once-in-a-generation infrastructure investment cycle, we're looking for an experienced Transport Planning & Traffic Engineering Lead to help grow our capability, strengthen key client relationships, and deliver the projects that will shape the state's future.
Based in Brisbane, or potentially elsewhere in Queensland for the right candidate, this role offers the opportunity to influence strategy, grow a high-performing team, and play a pivotal role in securing and delivering major transport infrastructure projects.
What will you do?
As a senior leader within Aurecon's Transport team, you'll combine technical excellence, client leadership and commercial acumen to help drive our next phase of growth.
You'll:
- Lead and grow our Transport Planning and Traffic Engineering capability across Queensland.
- Build trusted relationships with clients including TMR, local government and key transport stakeholders.
- Win and lead strategic transport projects across planning, business cases, advisory and infrastructure development.
- Provide technical leadership across multi-modal transport planning and traffic engineering projects.
- Mentor and develop team members, helping build capability and future leaders.
- Collaborate across Aurecon's Transport, Energy, Water and Advisory teams to unlock opportunities and deliver exceptional client outcomes.
What will you bring?
We're open to candidates from either a transport planning or traffic engineering background. More important than a specific title is your ability to lead clients, win work and help grow a successful business.
You'll ideally have:
- 15+ years' experience in transport planning, traffic engineering or related infrastructure advisory roles.
- Strong networks and credibility within the Queensland transport market.
- Experience working with TMR, local government or major transport infrastructure clients.
- A proven track record of winning work, developing client relationships and leading project delivery.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills.
- The ability to mentor, inspire and develop technical teams.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Transport Planning, Engineering or a related discipline.

Skills Required
- 15+ years' experience in transport planning and traffic engineering
- Relevant degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, or similar
- Strong industry profile with proven leadership and team development capability
- Deep understanding of multi-modal transport systems
