Our Distribution Centre (DC) is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility in Tullamarine, Melbourne, and truly is the beating heart of our business. We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager with omnichannel retail experience to join us and support MECCA’s Supply Chain transformation journey.
The Role You Could Play:
The Transport Manager oversees all inbound and outbound freight operations at Mecca, leading the Freight and Logistics team to ensure smooth movement of inventory from suppliers to distribution centres, and from there to stores and customers. They manage key relationships with freight, shipping, and outbound transport partners, ensuring safety, compliance (Chain of Responsibility), and service excellence. This role also focuses on continuous improvement of freight KPIs, cost efficiency, and supporting evolving business needs with tailored transport solutions, including management of 3PL partners.
On any given day, you will be responsible for:
- Manage costs associated with freight and duty and ensure timely processing of freight invoices
- Ensure a process of continuous improvement of Outbound Transport, safety, service and cost.
- Work closely with the Distribution Centre teams to effectively Manage freight handover and accurate data flow.
- International Exports and Imports Management
- Optimisation of DC-to-DC flows and some internal movements
- Optimisation of Outbound flows
- Brand Performance Reporting, inbound flow
- Manage key service providers and 3PL’s to optimise service and cost for Mecca
What You Will Bring:
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role is highly desirable, with strong expertise in managing international and domestic freight, including customs clearance, Dangerous Goods, and eCommerce logistics. Proven ability to manage freight provider relationships and a solid understanding of Known Consignor provisions and Australian Border Force requirements are essential. In addition, our ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate the following:
- Proven experience in Supply Chain, specifically Logistics Operations & Transport
- Exceptional Customer Service mindset to support our Stores & eCommerce consumers
- Confident and clear communicator, with exceptional interpersonal skills and stakeholder management
- Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to think strategically
- A passion for leading a team and developing others.
