The opportunity

Hitachi Energy Transformer Business Unit in Greater China operates across 55 cities, employs over 1,900 staff, and manages 5 transformer manufacturing plants. More than 90% of its sales come from locally manufactured products. We offer a comprehensive portfolio of Transformers Products, Solutions and Services.  Transformers are essential in all electricity-related fields and applications, including power generation, transmission and distribution, oil, chemical and gas, industrial manufacturing, semiconductor and data centers, as well as building and transportation sectors.

How you’ll make an impact
1. You will design and develop mechanical components and systems for various types of Dry transformers, including active part, cooling systems, structural supports etc..
2. You will create and review 2D and 3D models and drawings using software like CAD/Creo, ensuring manufacturability and assembly considerations.
3. You will collaborate with electrical engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to integrate mechanical designs with electrical components and production processes.
4. You will develop and maintain technical specifications, design documents, and bills of materials.
5. You will conduct design reviews, identify potential issues, and implement effective solutions.
6. You will participate in root cause analysis of mechanical failures and implement corrective actions.
7. You will stay updated with industry trends, new materials, and design methodologies for power transformers.
8. You will ensure designs comply with relevant international standards (e.g., IEC, GB).

9. You will be responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design or Material science or related major.
2. Over 2 years of experience in mechanical design of transformer/control cabinet/secondary control wiring or similar experience electrical equipment/system design.
3. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo ) and 2D tools (e.g., AutoCAD).
4. Solid understanding of materials science, metallurgy, and manufacturing processes relevant to large steel structures and electrical equipment.
5. Knowledge of international transformer standards (GB, IEC) is highly desirable.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
7. Good teamwork awareness and self-motivated.
8. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Materials Science, or a related field
  • More than 2 years of mechanical design experience involving transformers, control cabinets, secondary control wiring, or similar electrical equipment and systems
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks or Creo
  • Proficiency with 2D design tools such as AutoCAD
  • Understanding of materials science, metallurgy, and manufacturing processes for large steel structures and electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of international transformer standards, including GB and IEC
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Good teamwork skills and self-motivation
