The Trailhead Fitness Attendant is an active, hands-on position responsible for helping maintain a welcoming, clean, safe, and well-presented environment throughout The Trailhead fitness and recreation facilities.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying active, working both indoors and outdoors, interacting with members and families, and taking pride in the appearance of the facility. While member service and fitness facility oversight are important parts of the position, this is not strictly a front-desk or indoor fitness role. Team members must be willing and able to assist with outdoor facility upkeep, light landscaping, cleaning, setup, and general property maintenance as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Provide friendly, professional, and attentive service to members and guests throughout The Trailhead.
- Monitor the fitness center, pool, recreation areas, and surrounding facilities to help maintain a safe and enjoyable member experience.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitness equipment, locker rooms, pool areas, recreation spaces, and common areas.
- Regularly walk the property and proactively identify areas that need attention rather than waiting to be assigned a task.
- Assist with setup and breakdown for fitness classes, recreational activities, member events, and family programming.
- Help maintain fitness equipment and immediately communicate any safety, maintenance, or repair concerns.
- Restock towels, water, supplies, and other member amenities as needed.
- Assist with pool and outdoor recreation operations as assigned.
- Perform routine outdoor upkeep and light landscaping work around The Trailhead facilities, including picking up debris, raking, sweeping, blowing walkways, pulling weeds, trimming or cleaning landscape areas, moving outdoor furniture, and helping maintain the overall appearance of the property.
- Assist with general facility projects and maintenance needs as directed by management.
- Follow all Club safety procedures and immediately report hazards, incidents, or member concerns.
- Support other Trailhead and Club departments when operational needs require additional assistance.
This is an active position that requires employees to regularly move throughout the facility and surrounding outdoor areas. Candidates should be comfortable:
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Working both indoors and outdoors throughout a shift.
- Working outside in varying Arizona mountain weather conditions.
- Bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling as part of normal duties.
- Lifting and moving approximately 40–50 pounds when necessary.
- Performing light landscaping, cleaning, and general facility-maintenance tasks.
- Remaining active and engaged rather than being stationed primarily at a desk.
- Positive, outgoing, and service-oriented attitude.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative.
- Comfortable interacting professionally with members, families, children, and fellow team members.
- Willingness to perform a variety of duties, including fitness, recreation, cleaning, outdoor, and landscaping responsibilities.
- Dependable and able to work independently when needed.
- Ability to recognize what needs to be done and take action without constant supervision.
- Previous experience in fitness, recreation, hospitality, landscaping, maintenance, or customer service is helpful but not required.
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
The ideal Trailhead Fitness & Recreation Attendant is someone who likes to stay busy and active. We are looking for team members who are equally comfortable assisting a member in the fitness center, setting up a recreation activity, cleaning a pool deck, or heading outside to help improve the landscaping and overall appearance of the facility.
Above all, this position requires a team-first mentality and a willingness to jump in wherever needed to help keep The Trailhead operating at the high standard our members expect.
