Responsibilities of this role will include:
- Serving as a project engineer and/or project manager on traffic engineering projects with varying levels of complexity and scope.
- Coordinating with clients to understand project requirements and expectations.
- Taking a lead role in project planning, design, and implementation.
- Reviewing and approving project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
- Managing project tasks, budgets, schedules, and resources effectively.
- Delegating work to project team members.
- Performing detailed engineering analysis and design tasks.
- Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Reviewing complete project documents, ensuring quality and compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Assisting upper-level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor related to traffic engineering.
- Performing other duties as needed.
- Depending upon the experience, capabilities and interests of the selected candidate, this position may develop supervisory responsibilities over time.
Qualifications for this role:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a similar engineering field
- 8+ years of relevant traffic engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation
- Experience with Synchro 10 and traffic signal operations/phasing
- Experience with innovative intersection and interchange configurations
- Experience with the predictive methods of the Highway Safety Manual
- Experience with traffic forecasting methods
- Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
Additional qualifications that are helpful:
- Master’s degree in civil engineering or a similar engineering field.
- Registered as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE)
- Experience in traffic signal and pavement marking design
- Experience preparing simple to complex traffic studies
- Experience with traffic simulation modeling software packages such as PTV’s VISSIM
- Experience with travel demand modeling software packages such as Caliper’s TransCAD
- Experience with urban, multimodal transportation planning and traffic calming
- Experience leading teams in a project client environment
