Job Overview
The Senior Associate in the OTC Derivatives Settlements team is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely settlement of OTC Derivatives transactions. This role requires strong attention to detail, risk awareness, and the ability to manage high-value, high-volume transactions while maintaining compliance with internal policies and external regulations. The successful candidate will partner with various internal teams and external clients to resolve discrepancies, drive process improvements, and deliver exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Support: Provide full operational support for globally traded OTC Derivatives, including Interest Rate, Credit, and Equity derivatives.
- Settlement Risk Management: Confirm settlement amounts with clients, manage settlement instructions, and approve high-value payments through a rigorous, high-risk payment approval process, ensuring accuracy and strict adherence to controls.
- Trade Discrepancy Resolution: Conduct pre- and post-settlement investigations to resolve differences between client and JPMorgan calculations, analyzing trade documentation and following up for resolution.
- Metrics & Reporting: Create daily and weekly metrics reports for outstanding open breaks and settlement issues.
- Client Service: Take proactive ownership of client problem-solving, ensuring end-to-end issue resolution and consistently meeting service delivery standards.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Build and maintain effective relationships with Counterparties, Front Office, Middle Office, Technology, Finance, and other Operations teams to enhance efficiency and transparency.
- Risk & Compliance: Mitigate risks by escalating issues promptly and ensuring strict adherence to policies, procedures, and controls.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for process enhancements and value-added initiatives.
- Team management: May have opportunities to support team leadership, mentor junior staff, or assist with team reporting responsibilities, depending on business needs. These responsibilities are not guaranteed and will be determined based on team structure and individual performance.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Fluent in English (verbal and written).
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Experienced candidates in financial services, OTC Derivatives, or settlements is preferred but not required.
