For our group company, Bero Coffee Singapore, we are looking for a Trader, LATAM Arabica (f/m/d).
 

Working as part of a dynamic and multi-disciplinary team, the Trader provides timely and relevant information for the trading activities of NKG Asia Hub. This role supports and works closely with the Senior Arabica trader in Singapore in all aspects for daily activity.
 

Along with the below listed responsibilities, the employee should conduct any other business related to the function as required by her or his supervisor. The role is commercially orientated and requires a strong knowledge of economic concepts with a particular focus on supply and demand analysis.
Your responsibilities

  • Strategic responsibility for purchasing and position management of green coffee from Latin American countries of origin, in particular Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, etc.

  • Managing and implementing sustainability and quality objectives in the supply chain (e.g. direct sourcing, certifications, traceability)

  • Establishing and maintaining long-term, trusting partnerships with producers, cooperatives, exporters and other relevant market participants.

  • Representing the company at producer visits, trade fairs and international events

  • Responsibility for budget planning, forecasting and purchasing contracts

  • Coordinating with logistics, quality assurance, the sales team and futures to ensure timely availability and deliveries

  • Market observation and risk management with regard to price developments, harvest conditions, political framework conditions

  • Information gathering; Assist in data collection, storage and management using excel and Power BI.

  • Travel within the region will be required at times.

Your profile

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in the Green Coffee Industry, preferably in LATAM coffee origins.

  • Good understanding of Regional and Global Coffee Supply & Demand and Cash & Future markets.

  • Good understanding of macro and microeconomics and basic knowledge of finance and accounting

  • Knowledge in the development and use of Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power BI) is desired.

  • Knowledge of Supply & Demand factors, pricing trends and regulations affecting coffee trade would be an advantage.

  • Highly motived, proactive, and passionate about coffee.

  • Analytical mind with the ability to think critically to solve problems creatively is a prerequisite.

  • Good presentation skills as this role may be required to present information in a variety of settings for different stakeholders.

  • Eye for details, accuracy, and ability to work in a fast-moving environment are required.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills; must be comfortable in multi-cultural setting.  

  • Must demonstrate ability/willingness to step out of comfort zone as job will entail travel to (remote and rural) destinations for research and data gathering visiting suppliers, clients, and stakeholders.

  • Negotiation and good business acumen

  • Professional fluency in English and Spanish is essential. Basic Portuguese is highly appreciated.

Skills Required

  • 3 to 5 years' experience in the Green Coffee Industry, preferably in LATAM origins.
