Job Description:
As a Trade Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for providing functional and operational leadership for Trade Compliance activities in China. This role oversees multiple sites in China and ensuring full compliance with China Customs regulations, bonded‑warehouse operations, import/export controls, and related regulatory requirements. The position requires deep, hands‑on practical experience in customs operations, bonded‑warehouse management, regulatory interpretation, and interruption with customs. The role reports to the CHK Trade Compliance Leader.
The Impact You’ll Make in This Role:
• Lead and strengthen day‑to‑day Trade Compliance operations, with a strong focus on bonded‑warehouse management, bonded‑processing compliance, and operational execution across all sites.
• Establish, maintain, and continuously improve operational processes, internal controls, and compliance systems related to customs, bonded operations, FTAs, cargo security, and other regulatory requirements.
• Oversee and ensure the proper operation of bonded warehouses, including inventory control, in‑and‑outbound supervision, bonded reconciliation, manual handling procedures, and customs audit readiness.
• Ensure all operations maintain required trade‑related registrations, permits, operational approvals, and mandatory government reporting in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Manage regional reporting, operational metrics, and KPI consolidation for all China/Hong Kong operations.
• Collaborate closely with business units, supply chain, logistics, warehouse, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless operational compliance.
• Engage and respond to government authorities on customs, bonded operations, inspections, audits, matters.
• Drive continuous improvement in Trade Compliance operations, including process optimization, digitalization, and cross‑functional capability building.
What We Are Looking For:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 10 years of Trade Compliance or customs or logistic experience, with significant exposure to operational execution.
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience.
• Must be authorized to work in China.
• Fluent in Chinese and English.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 5 or more years of experience leading customs and bonded‑operations compliance, including bonded‑warehouse daily management and reconciliation.
• 2 or more years of experience working directly with customs or other government agencies.
• Proven ability to interpret regulations and translate them into practical operational controls and SOPs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and independently handle complex operational tasks.
Location: Shanghai, China
Travel: 20–40%, primarily within China
