SUMMARY
Responsible for the installation of wireless equipment at tower sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Perform equipment installations and replacement at various heights on the tower.
- Support wireless network techs during remote equipment trouble shooting of equipment.
- Perform site maintenance on tower cabinets and central offices.
- Install and maintain both AC and DC power equipment.
- Inspect towers and make recommendations for maintenance or repair.
- Use industry and OSHA standards for rigging and rope work at tower site.
- Make recommendations to Wireless Network Technicians for equipment repair/replacement.
- Maintain compliance to all relevant OSHA, safety or departmental standards as directed by supervisor.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a valid Driver's license and insurable record.
Must pass pre-employment screen, physical and background checks.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Basic knowledge of CO concepts, operation, maintenance and repair in the following related subjects: basic electricity, basic telephony, AC /DC power, grounding and protection.
- Basic knowledge of digital concepts, digital switches, T1/Tn transmission and fiber optics.
- Basic and advanced installation, support of wireless equipment, tower construction and shelter facilities.
- Knowledge in RF (radio frequency) communications.
- Knowledge with IP (Internet Protocol) & TCP (Transport Control Protocol).
- General PC network communication is an asset.
- Knowledge of routing/switching technologies, Cisco IOS preferred.
- Knowledge of WiFi network deployments preferred.
