Position Summary

As the Tooling Machinist you will own the design, fabrication, and validation of tooling, jigs, and fixtures used to support machining of production parts. You will use your knowledge of machining processes, material properties, and CNC programming to develop tooling solutions that enable safe, repeatable, and efficient manufacturing. You will work closely with engineering and production teams to support process development and program prove-out activities to ensure parts meet quality and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and modify jigs, fixtures, and production tooling used in the machining and assembly processes.
• Create, edit and optimize CNC programming for tooling, fixtures, and production-support components using CAD/CAM software and machine controls.
• Perform fixture, tooling, and program prove-out through test runs, controlled sequencing, and validation of dimensional results.
• Troubleshoot tooling, machining, quality and throughput issues in partnership with Manufacturing Engineering, Production and CNC Programming.
• Maintain tooling, fixtures, machine setup readiness, documentation, and work area organization to support safe and repeatable operations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 5+ years of CNC machining and setup experience, including the ability to program, set up and operate a 3-axis mill.
• 1+ years of CAM software experience, including the ability to create or modify CNC programs and interpret G-code/M-code.
• Working knowledge of CAD software sufficient to create, modify, or interpret fixture/tooling designs and related mechanical components
• Proficiency with CNC machining processes, material behavior, cutting tool selection, feeds/speeds, and work holding principles.
• Ability to design, build, modify, and troubleshoot jigs, fixtures, and production tooling used in machining or assembly processes.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, setup sheets, and machining documentation.
• Ability to perform tooling, fixture, and program prove-out through test runs, inspection, and documented validation of results.
• Math skills, including feeds/speeds, tolerances, geometric relationships, algebra, geometry and trigonometry.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience designing and machining fixtures for 3-axis and 5-axis milling applications, including understanding of part orientation, access, rigidity, clearance, and repeatable locating strategies
• Advanced CAD/CAM capability, including complex toolpath strategies, fixture modeling, simulation, collision avoidance, and machining-process optimization.
• Strong troubleshooting ability for complex machining problems, including dimensional variation, chatter, tool wear, fixturing instability, process drift, or repeatability issues.
• Experience supporting new product introduction, prototype-to-production transition, or production ramp-up through fixture design, process prove-out, and manufacturability improvements.
• Ability to recommend tooling, fixturing, machining strategies, or equipment improvements based on cost, quality, safety, and production-impact analysis.
