We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Tier-3 Network Engineer with a security focus to join our Operational Networking team. You’ll play a key role in supporting and maintaining our mission-critical UK-wide data network, delivering reliable services to commercial telecoms customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement, maintain & monitor national networks running Layer 2 switching, Layer 3 routing, SDWAN, wireless.
Implement, maintain & monitor robust security measures such as firewalls and security policies.
Provide Tier-3 technical support to our Neos NOC and Customers supporting fault investigations
Collaborate with network architects on network design and optimisation.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation.
Liaise with project management teams to carry out network builds and deployment.
Provide on-call standby support within a team rota (after a provisional joining period) & support out of hours planned changes or escalations when required.
What You’ll Need
Essential Experience:
Strong hands-on experience Cisco ASA, Firepower, Checkpoint configuration and support experience
Experience with Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, and Nexus hardware (routers/switches).
Solid understanding of Layer 2 (Ethernet, VLANs, Spanning Tree).
Proven skills in Layer 3 (OSPF, BGP, subnetting, ACLs, VRFs).
Excellent communication and customer-facing abilities.
Capable of working independently as well as part of a close-knit team.
Desirable (but not essential):
Exposure to Juniper platforms: QFX10k, QFX5k with VXLAN.
Cisco Wireless (WLC, Prime, Meraki).
Firewalls: Fortinet, Juniper SRX.
SD-WAN solutions: Silver Peak troubleshooting.
Certifications: CCNP, CCSA.
