GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Transport Aide will be responsible for transporting residents to various appointments, scheduled outings, and other special events in the greater Galveston/Houston metro area as required. In addition, this role will be responsible for driving a vehicle to transport residents and staff to scheduled camp sessions. When not driving residents, this role will act as a program activity assistant and provide 24-hour supervision and documentation of the residents’ activities. Among these duties are observing and documenting resident behavior, acting as a role model for residents, interacting with residents, providing the resident assistance with activities of daily living, ensuring resident safety, reinforcing treatment plans and TLC policies, assisting therapy staff when needed, and maintaining various checklists, contracts, and daily log sheets. The Transport Aide will uphold the mission, philosophy, and goals of the organization while maintaining strict confidentiality of personnel and resident data and information in the performance of assigned duties. Performs other duties as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide transportation, observation, and documentation of responses on ADL outings such as shopping trips. Some resident direct care while on appointments as needed.
- Transport patients to and from appointments, work, field trips, recreation activities, etc.
- Attend work on scheduled shifts for scheduled appointments.
- Participate in resident activities such as outings or maintenance programs when not driving or supervising appointments.
- Arrive at appointments early when possible and always on time.
- Willingness to drive in inclement weather
- Observe, monitor, intervene, document, and report patient's social and interpersonal behavior and functional ability to perform as an independent individual in the community setting.
- To carry out therapeutic activities as designed by the clinical staff and/or the Case Manager.
- Implement behavior management programs including the levels system.
- Assist in emergency situations including the implementation of fire alarm and fire drill procedures and the provision of first aid treatment in case of illness or injury.
- Serve as a role model at all times maintaining professional dress and conduct.
- Implement emergency evacuation procedures, i.e. fire drills, etc.
- Monitor and assist in residential ADL activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records including seizure reports, ADL check sheets, medication sheets, shift change reports, critical incident reports, etc.
- Attend in-services and staff meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Provide a safe and secure environment for patients.
- Discharge duties in accordance with Moody Neuro organizational policy, CARF and other accrediting bodies.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- The ability to work well with other people.

- Ability to receive and follow instructions accurately.
- Knowledge of philosophical and ethical considerations in rehabilitation practice.
- Hold current CPR and first aid certifications.
- Ability to communicate accurate and pertinent information through documentation.
- Ability to execute emergency procedures.
- Ability to work rotating shifts.
- Ability to assist patients with transfer in a wheelchair.
- Certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI)
- Current/valid Driver's license.
- Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, ability to follow instructions, emergency response capability.
- Current/valid Driver's license.
EDUCATION
High-School Diploma or equivalent preferred
EXPERIENCE
Two years in Residential Behavioral Rehabilitation or one to two years with disabled populations.
Skills Required
- Current/valid driver’s license
- Certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI)
- Current CPR and first aid certifications
- Two years in residential behavioral rehabilitation OR one to two years with disabled populations
- Ability to assist patients with transfer in a wheelchair
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Ability to observe, document, and report resident behavior accurately
- Ability to execute emergency procedures and provide first aid
