We are seeking a candidate with overall 4 to 7 years' experience as a Mainframe Developer with strong exposure to the Life Insurance domain to support, enhance, and maintain complex mainframe-based insurance applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in COBOL, VSAM, JCL, IDMS, and integration experience using TIBCO ObjectStar, with a solid understanding of end-to-end life insurance business processes.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities
Application Development & Maintenance
Design, develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL (Batch & Online)
Write, modify, and optimize JCL for batch processing, scheduling, and production support
Develop and maintain programs interacting with VSAM datasets (KSDS, ESDS, RRDS)
Support and enhance applications using IDMS database structures and schemas
Perform impact analysis for business requirements and system changes
Life Insurance Domain Support
Work on life insurance functions such as:
Policy administration
New business processing
Underwriting support
Premium billing and collections
Policy servicing (endorsements, reinstatements, lapses)
Claims processing and payouts
Translate life insurance business requirements into technical solutions
Ensure regulatory compliance and data accuracy in insurance transactions
Integration & Middleware
Develop and support integrations between mainframe systems and distributed platforms using TIBCO ObjectStar
Handle real-time and batch data exchanges with external and internal systems
Troubleshoot integration issues related to message transformation, routing, and error handling
Production Support & Quality
Provide L2/L3 production support, including batch failure analysis and resolution
Perform root-cause analysis and preventive fixes
Conduct unit testing, system testing, and support UAT
Ensure adherence to SLAs, coding standards, and audit requirements
Collaboration & Documentation
Collaborate with business analysts, testing teams, and infrastructure teams
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, program specifications, and operational run books
Participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions
