The Technology Lab Instrumentation Engineer provides instrumentation and data acquisition support for the Home Laundry, Dishwasher, and Burn Room Laboratories. This role partners with engineers and technicians to develop, implement, maintain, and improve instrumentation solutions that enable product development, validation, and compliance testing. Responsibilities include supporting data acquisition systems, sensors, power analyzers, flow measurement devices, environmental controls, and related test equipment while ensuring accurate, reliable, and repeatable test results. 25% - Design and maintain data acquisition systems to ensure accurate, repeatable, and reliable collection of test data.
15% - Diagnose and resolve instrumentation, sensor, communication, and data acquisition issues to minimize laboratory downtime.
15% - Update current instrumentation for AP1, AP3 and Burn Room as required for updates to the test standard or drivers.
10% - Install, configure, and maintain instrumentation software platforms including Yokogawa GP-Pro, DewesoftX, and other data acquisition applications.
5% - Support programming of Environmental Test Chambers or PLCs
10% - Work with Digital Technology team to setup IP addresses and Ports for lab computers and to enable monitored remote viewing by OEM on lab computers
5% - Develop and maintain software tools, scripts, and automation solutions using Python, VBA, C++, or similar languages to support data collection, analysis, and reporting.
5% - Setup new computers with lab instrumentation software and work with DT to ensure automatic updates/reboots are disabled
Minimum Qualifications:
BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering discipline.
0-2 years of experience with instrumentation, controls, data acquisition systems, or laboratory testing environments (including internships or co-op experience)
Experience programming in Python, LabView, VEE or C++ for data acquisition and control of instruments
Ability to work in large cross-functional teams and at multiple levels in the organization (both salaried and skilled trades team members)
Experience with root cause analysis and electrical troubleshooting as well as sensor selection and calibration.
Good organizational, project management and presentation skills to interact with all levels within the organization and with suppliers and vendors
Preferred Qualifications:
MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
Prior experience industrial process instrumentation and controls including pressure regulators, flow meters, dampers & flow control valves, safety shut off valves, sealed systems, and humidity generators.
Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints, including electrical online diagrams
Practical knowledge of networking

Working conditions are normal for an office environment and lab
Must be able to lift and carry data loggers and computers
