Overview
The Test Engineer III serves as the hands-on Quality Lead for PhoenixTeam's Federal Housing Administration (FHA) program. The role is accountable for overall code and release quality across two development teams, combining hands-on testing and automation with test management, coaching, and process improvement.
The application environment includes Salesforce, AWS, Java, and PostgreSQL.
Key Functions
- Lead release-cycle testing and provide testing guidance and oversight to two testers.
- Develop, run, and maintain automated API and user interface (UI) tests, and perform hands-on testing to investigate issues and verify changes.
- Own release test plans and test-results documentation.
- Generate test data and troubleshoot issues during integration testing (INT) and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Assess test results, communicate code-quality risks, and work with developers and testers to address release-quality issues.
- Coach and mentor testers, improve testing processes, and expand test automation coverage.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree and 7+ years of relevant experience; a master's degree and 5+ years; or an associate degree and 9+ years.
- Hands-on experience with automated API and UI testing using Gherkin/Cucumber or comparable automation approaches.
- Experience with Salesforce configuration and development, AWS environments, Java, and PostgreSQL databases.
- Experience leading testing, owning test plans and results, and coaching other testers while remaining hands-on.
- Must be eligible to successfully complete the background investigation required for a Public Trust position and receive a favorable suitability determination.
Preferred Qualifications or Skills
- Experience using Jira dashboards for quality reporting or release documentation.
- Experience using Postman or other API testing tools.
- Git and CI/CD pipeline experience.
- Experience supporting federal programs or working in mortgage or related fields.
- Prior experience completing a federal background investigation or clearance process.

- Hours: 40 hours/week with availability during core business hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. ET
