Department OverviewOur world-class Video Management Software allows Enterprise customers to monitor all aspects of security at their sites. From integrating video analytics in Windows applications to making highly scalable cloud microservices, our engineers have opportunities to work with a diverse and exciting range of products.
We are seeking a Software Developer in Test who shares an AI-First mindset to champion quality and reliability across our systems. You will leverage your expertise to design and build scalable automated test frameworks and seamlessly integrate them into modern CI/CD pipelines. We have a fantastic city-centre office in the heart of Edinburgh and fully embrace a hybrid home/office working model, aiming for 2 days in the office.
A successful candidate will combine technical expertise with a collaborative mindset, partnering directly with engineering leadership to ensure applications are built with testability, observability, and high performance in mind from day one.
Job Description

What You Will Do

• Develop, maintain, and execute automated tests within existing frameworks (e.g., TypeScript/Playwright) across UI, API, and backend systems.
• Investigate, assess and drive adoption of new automated test frameworks within the organisation.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable production-grade code.
• Actively participate in code reviews for both the test framework and the core application, holding the team to high standards for coding practices.
• Contribute to a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to feature refinement and generate innovative solutions as well as advising team on test strategies and RCAs
• Actively contribute to continuous integration and delivery pipelines to ensure frequent, high-quality releases.

What you should bring

• A collaborative team player who aligns with our core values and company culture.
• Demonstrated proficiency in a modern programming language and the ability to apply core engineering principles.
• Experience with testing and automating workflows across different layers of a system, including user interfaces (UI) and APIs.
• Solid troubleshooting and debugging skills to identify and resolve test failures and system issues.
• Familiarity with CI/CD principles and practical experience contributing to or maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• An AI-first mindset, with experience using AI coding tools to generate test data, conduct predictive failure analysis, identify edge cases, and drive spec-driven development to ensure consistent behavior during AI-assisted refactoring.

Basic Requirements

It is also considered a bonus if you have:

• Familiarity with methodologies and tools for soak or performance testing.
• Practical experience with Github Actions or similar scheduling and integration tools.
• Exposure to video platforms, streaming technologies, or media solutions.
• API & Infrastructure: hands-on experience with RESTful API, websockets. Solid understanding of web development principles.
• Engineering Mindset: a good foundation in data structures/algorithms and
  design patterns. Ability to see the long-term implications of solutions.
• Collaboration: Demonstrated team player skills and a willingness to work with
  Others.
• Ability to investigate and get to the root cause of issues and find a
  solution.
• Experience testing large-scale public-facing applications or distributed systems that are mission-critical for customers.
• Experience with test management tools such as TestRail.
• Familiarity with leveraging observability platforms to debug complex system failures.
• Experience developing test suites for applications in Cloud environments using virtualisation tools such as Docker.
