OVERVIEW OF ROLE 

As a Test Systems Engineer within the Navigation Solutions team, you will be responsible for the design and realisation of test systems for Electronic and mechanical designs. You will own the design from concept through manufacturing and through to deployment on the production line. You will also be responsible for lifecycle management of the systems.

You will work directly with the design team during the design phase to ensure testability is considered and design test systems to ensure that design requirements are met during goods incoming inspection.


Key Responsibilities

1. Electronic Test Systems

Design of Bed of Nails test systems to allow rapid repeatable testing of PCBA’s received from our manufacturer

Automatic pass/fail analysis including generation of test reports where necessary

Software development to operate test systems and automate generation of reports.

Work with the Electronic design team and the Embedded software team to ensure test coverage is achievable in production

2. Mechanical Test Systems

Design of mechanical jigs to test critical dimensions and simplify goods incoming inspection.

Design of jigs and fixtures to simplify product assembly.

Work with the Mechanical design team during the design phase to ensure testability once design is in production.

3. Software Interfaces

Integrate test systems to automatically record test data in ERP systems. Automation of record keeping and logging of test data.

Experience with scripting languages such as Python required. Access to AI tools for development of software interfaces is available.

4. Continuous Improvement & Culture

Embrace a "Progress over Perfection" mindset by deploying rapid design iterations to gather early feedback from technical internal stakeholders.

Advocate for consistency and efficiency across all products balancing quick delivery and quality.


Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronic/Mechatronic or Computer Systems Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience as a design engineer working across multi discipline design teams, preferably within a deep tech, robotics, SaaS-hardware hybrid, or high-reliability manufacturing organization.
  • Proficiency in at least one Engineering discipline, with a competency in the others along with a willingness to learn and update your knowledge, keeping up to date with industry best practice and trends.
  • Strong communication skills; able to communicate non technical to non-technical stakeholders.
  • A curious mindset with an intrinsic drive to learn complex technical frameworks quickly.
  • Exceptional attention to detail combined with a bias for action and decisive problem-solving.


Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic, Mechatronic, or Computer Systems Engineering
  • At least 3 years of experience as a design engineer working across multidisciplinary design teams
  • Proficiency in at least one engineering discipline, with competency in other disciplines
  • Strong communication skills, including communication with non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to learn complex technical frameworks quickly
  • Exceptional attention to detail and decisive problem-solving ability
  • Experience in a deep-tech, robotics, SaaS-hardware hybrid, or high-reliability manufacturing organization
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python
