Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

o Travel assigned territory and make sales calls on existing accounts as well as prospects. Communicate to these customers and prospects our product and service offerings. Obtain competitive feedback and coordinate with Inside Sales accordingly. Develop and implement system to efficiently follow-up with customers via phone as well as in person to generate sales.

o Overnight stays required as well as after hour entertainment with customers.

o Demonstrate the ability to negotiate and make decisions on the pricing, service requirements, and overall expectations of the customer.

o Develop business relationships, at all levels, and sense of integrity with customers to maintain or increase volume of sales.

o Solicit and develop new accounts. Identify and cold call on prospects and turn qualifying prospects into customers.

o Handle and respond to customer complaints regarding billing, pricing, service, quality and charges for services. Work in conjunction with production, credit, administration and transportation to resolve situations in a timely and efficient manner. 

o Develop and utilize knowledge of market conditions, competitor methods, service advantages and credit policies to maximize the profitability of the company.

o Have a complete and up to date understanding of company products, procedures, processing, equipment and estimating techniques.

o Work with and coordinate special customer needs with internal departments.

o Work with Sales Manager and sales staff to plan and implement strategies for key and target accounts.

o Adhere to Quality policy at all times

o Follow written quality procedures for specific job functions assigned

Required education/work experience: 

  • Four-year degree preferred 
  • Minimum of three years sales and/or      purchasing experience in the metal industry preferred.
  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge      of the metal industry.
  • Must have acceptable MVR for insurance      purposes.

Necessary (required) skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written      communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate with      customers and assist them in the buying process, ability to read, analyze      and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,      technical procedures, bid packages or government regulations. 
  • Must have strong presentations skills to      prepare and present sales proposals to small or large groups.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and      deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations as part of normal      business practices. Ability to      interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or      schedule form.
  • Ability to use a laptop as major duty of      daily functions. Must demonstrate      the ability to be trained on pricing and inventory system to facilitate      efficient use during normal business demands. Candidate must have good keyboard skills      and must be proficient in Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Candidate must demonstrate the ability      to read and understand CAD drawings and detailed prints to understand the      needs of customers and how that relates our processing capabilities.
  • Detail oriented, Strong organizational      skills, multitasking skills

Skills Required

  • Four-year degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years sales and/or purchasing experience in the metal industry preferred
