About the Position

Maricopa County Elections is seeking a Temporary Recruitment and Onboarding Specialist to support staffing operations at the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center (MCTEC) during the election season.

Election season is a fast-paced, mission-critical environment where accuracy, efficiency, and deadlines matter. In this role, you will support high-volume recruitment and onboarding efforts by moving candidates through the Workday system, monitoring approvals, coordinating onboarding activities, and ensuring candidates are hired, cleared, and ready to work on time.

We Require

  • Two years of experience performing administrative duties in a Recruitment, Human Resources, or Elections environment
  • Experience with data tracking tools, like Microsoft List and Excel
  • High school diploma or GED
  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis 

Other Requirements

  • Must be a registered voter or have the ability to become a registered voter in the State of Arizona by the time of hire
  • Must pass an applicable background screening
  • Must be able to work irregular hours, overtime, and shifts based on the departmental needs

Job Contributions

  • Reviews and processes high volumes of job applications in Workday, updates applicant statuses, and monitors approvals
  • Coordinates and completes onboarding, first-day readiness activities, and offboarding tasks to ensure candidates are fully cleared and prepared for assignment
  • Manages and troubleshoots high-volume incoming and outgoing communications related to hiring status, onboarding requirements, and next steps in the recruitment/onboarding process
  • Screens candidates via phone interviews by verifying position-specific qualifications, including driving experience and voter registration status, and confirms eligibility within the voter registration system
  • Collaborates with team members to coordinate tasks and priorities through Microsoft Teams, meetings, and asynchronous communication; maintains and updates shared spreadsheets and tracking documents to ensure accurate, real-time visibility into recruitment and onboarding progress
  • Assists with off-site recruitment activities, job fairs, and outreach efforts to support staffing needs
  • Collect and track recruitment and onboarding data, monitor process outcomes, and support evaluations to identify process improvements and solutions
  • Supports other assigned election activities as directed during election cycles

Working Conditions

This position requires:

  • Full-time/Temporary/Holiday/Weekends/Overtime hours are mandatory during the election cycle
  • Work that primarily occurs in a business office setting 
  • Work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks with changing priorities, to perform sedentary work for extended periods, the use of upper extremity repetitive motion, the ability to collaborate with peers in a team-oriented environment and conduct work independently, and the ability to lift up to 10 pounds floor-to-shoulder and to push/pull up to 10 pounds
  • Travel to other locations as needed
  • Some operations to be conducted under livestream cameras
  • A commitment to not engage in any political discussion
  • Work that involves the use of Workday, OnBase, SourceDirect, a voter registration database, Adobe Acrobat, and the Microsoft Office Suite
