New hydrogen value chains will be essential to the energy transition, as part of the solution for decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors such as shipping and steelmaking. With a vision to be Asia Pacific's most valued clean energy solutions partner by 2030, Gentari also has the ambition to be a leading project developer and producer of low-carbon hydrogen.

We are looking for a Technology Expert, Ammonia, to join the Hydrogen Technology team, acting as SME for technical solutions across the ammonia value chain: ammonia synthesis (Haber-Bosch process), refrigerated storage & transport, and ammonia cracking.

This is an opportunity to join a fast-growth company in the green hydrogen industry. The role reports to the Global Head of Project Design, Execution & Technology for Gentari Hydrogen.


Key Responsibilities

1. Project Support & Ownership

  • Lead technical evaluations and comparisons of available ammonia technologies, ensuring accurate and data-driven recommendations to project teams.
  • Collaborate with business development and commercial teams to assess and capitalize on new opportunities in the ammonia supply chain.
  • Review and validate vendor documentation, ensuring alignment with project specifications and proactively addressing potential integration challenges.
  • Conduct thorough technical reviews of contracts, tender documents, and agreements to safeguard the company’s interests and ensure all technical requirements are met.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with regulatory and compliance teams to ensure all technical solutions meet or exceed environmental, safety, and operational standards.

2. Technology Evaluation & Innovation

  • Maintain and regularly update an inventory of cutting-edge technology solutions for ammonia value chains, supporting strategic decision-making and project development.
  • Engage with both established licensors and emerging technology start-ups to keep abreast of the latest developments and maintain a robust understanding of techno-economic data.
  • Provide expert technical advice to project partners, including Petronas group companies, to foster the development of innovative clean energy solutions.
  • Identify and assess technical risks, developing and implementing risk mitigation and control measures.
  • Develop and implement technology roadmaps for ammonia-related projects, aligning with the company’s strategic goals and ensuring readiness for future advancements.
  • Advise senior management on emerging trends and potential disruptions in ammonia technology, providing insights that shape the company’s long-term strategy.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 8 to 12 years in relevant industry roles, such as technology licensing, process engineering, or technical consulting, with a strong focus on ammonia technology.
  • Education: A degree in engineering or science, preferably in chemical engineering.
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis with the ability to generate clear, concise reports and presentations tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a proactive approach to continuous learning.
  • Motivation: A strong desire to dive deep into specific technology areas and to provide critical support in selecting the best technical solutions for project teams.
