- Immediately respond, in a positive and proactive manner to any Decostar employee’s health and safety concern or suggestion.
- Immediacy report any accidents, incidents or near misses to the Safety Department and complete the required Accident Reporting Forms within 24 hours.
- Complete all required safety-related inspections.
- Do not install or make changes to any equipment or machinery that may jeopardize the health and safety of any employee.
- Ensure all employees, under your guidance, have received all required training to perform their job safely
- Execute modifications or repairs of molds within specified time schedules.
- Organize modifications and repairs to molds and provide all information required to production departments to allow for scheduling and completion of work.
- Understand Decostar tooling specifications and ensure all production tools meet the requirements.
- Keep an open issue list for each tool, including open work orders for preventive maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
- Assist molding department technicians by troubleshooting tooling related failures.
- Communicate with the CMMS Coordinator to maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation regarding mold maintenance, repair, and parts inventory.
- Check water system connections and ensure circuits are operating at maximum efficiency.
- Communicate and follow up on finished results to ensure final product meets customer specifications.
- Support team efforts to improve quality, cost and timing of mold repairs or changes and work in a manner that contributes to meeting or exceeding department performance objectives.
- Perform all work in an efficient manner and make efficient use of materials and tool room supplies and inventories.
- Execute lock out / tag out procedures as required on all molding department equipment and facilities.
- Maintain a high departmental standard of cleanliness in the Injection Molding and RIM molding areas.
- Display professional conduct when dealing with customers both at Decostar and off site as required.
- Perform other duties as directed.
- Three years practical experience as a journeyman (apprentice mold maker).
- Three years production environment experience in injection molding or related field. 1 ½ years experience will be accepted if accompanied by an Associate Degree or Technical Diploma in a related field.
- Must achieve an acceptable score on Decostar’s skill assessment test.
- Must have excellent welding skills and experience with machine tool equipment.
- Must be able to read and interpret tooling drawings.
- Must have experience polishing and fitting tooling components.
- Must have basic electrical skills.
- Associate’s Degree in a technical field of study required. 5 years work related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree. Work experience combined with current schooling towards degree will be considered.

- This position requires a person to have the ability to perform work while sitting for up to eight (8) hours on a continuous basis.
- This position requires a person to have the ability to stand, walk or climb stairs a minimum of eight (8) hours on a continuous basis.
- This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis and 50 pounds on an infrequent basis.
- Good vision at a close distance as well as color acuity is required.
- Must be capable of performing a full range of repetitive motion for up to eight (8) hours a day.
- You will receive training to perform your job on an on-going basis concurrent with Decostar business operations. Training areas will include safety, quality, continuous improvement and other job specific training that is determined to be an essential part of your job and Decostar business operations.
