The Technical Writer and Editor (Homeland Security) supports our clients with editing, policy analysis, technical writing, 508 compliance, quality assurance, and meeting support. The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a favorable DHS Fitness Determination.
Arc Aspicio is currently working in a hybrid work environment where work will be performed at client sites, the Arc Aspicio DC office, and remotely. All candidates must live in the Washington, DC area at the time of employment.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical writing and editing support on quick-turn reports, summaries, and analytical products on a weekly basis, complying with DHS style guides and 508 compliance
- Create, update, and maintain templates with appropriate formatting
- Coordinate across the team on emerging activities and events requiring rapid development of products
- Support large virtual and in-person meetings with strong writing to capture key decisions, intent, and actions
- Research and write on topics covering critical infrastructure sectors in support of ongoing initiatives and as requested
- Communicate and coordinate with team members promptly to tailor messaging and perform quality checks for accuracy and completeness
- Take on new responsibilities and learn the mission/business while maintaining an excellent attention to detail, finding ways to exceed client expectations
- Contribute to company service areas beyond just the project to build new skills and help the company grow by developing our capabilities and selling new business
- Contribute to our company culture, which promotes collaboration, learning, and helping others to grow and develop
Required Qualifications
- 4 to 6 years of relevant experience or comparable experience in a relevant role
- Proven to be flexible and thrive in a dynamic, ambiguous, and complex work environment and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Rigorous attention to detail and technical editing ability
- Outstanding written and oral communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to prepare accurate notes, summaries, trackers, and professionally formatted documents for leadership review
- Strong proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint
- Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable DHS Fitness Determination and access to required unclassified Government information and facilities
- Proven to be flexible and thrive in a dynamic, ambiguous, and complex work environment and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively remotely and in-person
- Desire to join a consulting firm and learn business concepts; loves to collaborate and reach out to get involved in company events, offerings, and special projects
- Ability to work in the Washington, DC metro area and travel to different locations
- Clearance: U.S. Citizenship only (no dual citizenship). Currently holds a Public Trust level clearance or have the ability to obtain and maintain a position of trust/Federal security clearance
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
- Critical Skills: Technical writing, editing, research, detail-oriented, strong work ethic, collaborative mind-set, excellent problem-solving skills, communications, and interest in working in a consulting firm. Interest in working on assignments outside of one project is strongly desired
