Technical Training and Development Manager (Onsite)
WET (Design) - Sun Valley, CA
At WET (Design), water is our medium and the world is our audience. We design and build iconic water features that fuse art, engineering, and technology – the kind of experiences that make people stop, stare, and pull out their phones. Behind every fountain is a crew of engineers, technicians, welders, machinists, and craftspeople turning impossible ideas into reality.
We’re looking for a Technical Training and Development Manager to help those teams grow, sharpen their craft, and pass their knowledge forward.
What You’ll Do
You’ll be the architect of how we learn. In this role, you’ll work side-by-side with our technical teams to design practical, grounded learning experiences that keep people safe, raise the bar on quality, and open up real paths for development and advancement.
You will:
- Design structured curriculum for engineers, technicians, welders, machinists, and other production team members
- Translate complex technical processes into clear, engaging learning materials
- Build training guides, job aids, workshops, and learning pathways that people actually use
- Partner with subject matter experts to capture institutional knowledge
- Help formalize and document best practices across teams and disciplines
- Support onboarding and upskilling efforts for our technical workforce
- Continuously refine programs based on feedback, shop-floor realities, and evolving business needs
Who You Are
You’re at your best when you’re close to the work and the people doing it. You know how to listen, observe, and turn what you see into learning that sticks.
You are:
- Experienced in curriculum design, instructional design, or technical training
- Comfortable working with highly skilled technical professionals and getting into the details with them
- Strong at organizing complex information into clear, digestible learning experiences
- Curious, collaborative, and confident asking “why?” and “show me”
- Able to balance structure with creativity and iteration
- Energized by supporting the people who physically build extraordinary work
- Experience in manufacturing, engineering, skilled trades, or production environments is a strong plus
Role Details
- Part-time or full-time for the right person
- Onsite role (in-office / on-shop-floor presence required)
- Flexible scheduling within business hours
Why This Role Matters
Our work is ambitious, hands-on, and highly technical. The way we teach, share, and grow skills directly impacts our safety, quality, and ability to innovate. This role helps create the structure, language, and support our teams need to keep building world-class water features and the experiences that surround them.
This role is about investing in the people who build our work. If that resonates with you, we’d love to talk.

WET works with developers, architects, leaders, and visionaries to create and re-imagine environments for human experiences. Our expansive features are context driven, responsive to their environments and the needs and desires of their clients, patrons and visitors.
Our creative force of talent ranges from artists to physicists, from architects to choreographers. They imagine each project as if it were WET’s first, shaping it to its specific environment and community. WET’s involvement in and commitment to each project begins at the moment of conceptualization and remains through lifetime maintenance.
